You tapped your foot as you waited in line, sighing and scrolling through your phone. Normally, you don't like going to places like this, but midterms are coming up and you have to study. And who better to study with than your neighbor and friend, Natsuo?
Ever since that one night at the convenience store, you two have been hanging out a lot. Normally you try not to cling to people. You're distant, due to all of your abandonment issues and baggage. But you need someone right now, considering everything that's happened.
And Dabi's away with work or whatever he's doing..as long as he's not cheating on you, you don't care what it is. It's hard to get in touch with him, texting him once a day at the most, his replies being spaced hours, even days apart. At first, you were upset, but now you're not, because you have Natsuo.
Natsuo's great. He's kind and funny, and he always knows the right thing to say. You really enjoy his company, and he's helped you out of your rough patch and even motivated you a bit. Still, you don't know him too well, the boy being an enigma to you, and tonight, you're hoping to get to know him better.
"(Y/n)?" You hear the barista call, putting down your coffee cup and listing out the ingredients, before handing you a second.
"Yeah, that's me. Thanks." You say, before picking up the two coffee cups and turning away to leave. As you do so, you feel your phone buzz in your pocket. Your hands are full, and you don't have time to check it.
"Need some help?" Natsuo offers with a grin. You didn't even notice him waiting for you by the door. "Oh, thanks, here you go."
You slip the coffee into his hand, smiling back at him. He pushes the door open, leading you outside. You follow after him, giggling softly. "I thought you'd go for something a little less sweet, and sugary."
"Nah, I love sugary stuff. I've always had a big sweet tooth." Natsuo admits, taking a sip of his macchiato.
"Hm, well I'm not really surprised." You admit with a grin, before pulling your phone out of your pocket and checking it, seeing that it's Dabi.
Dabi: Just got a small break from work
Dabi: How r u doing?
You: I'm good
You: I just went to grab some coffee with a friend, and I'm heading over to his place to study
"(Y/n), c'mon, we gotta go," Natsuo calls out to you, making you look up from your phone. You two are standing at the crosswalk, the numbers counting down quickly, which manages to get you to pick up the pace and stuff your phone back into your pocket, before crossing the road.
It isn't long until you're back at the dormitory, you standing beside Natsuo as he unlocks his door. Once he unlocks it completely, he pushes the door open, showing the room. "Well, here's my humble abode."
Vacant is the best way you can describe the room, considering there are no decorations or anything, just a few boxes. One of clothes, another of school supplies and books, and another of things from his home, you assume. He does have a picture on his desk, one of his family.
"I know, there's not a lot of stuff. I haven't had time to unpack, and my parents are very...minimalistic." Natsuo explains, watching as you look around the room.
"I can tell." You murmur, before taking a seat on the bed, while Natsuo sits in the chair. "Oh, sorry about that. You can sit at the desk if you want."
"No, no, it's fine. Now, you better get to work, and quit procrastinating." You tease, waving him off.
Natsuo chuckles softly, before turning away from you and typing on his computer, while you open your laptop, and begin working on yours. For a while, the room is quiet and you can feel his eyes on you every now and then.
"So, what are you majoring in?" You ask after a few minutes, breaking the tense silence. While you are comfortable with Natsuo, you can't help but feel the impulse to make a conversation. To make things less awkward, you guess. You barely even know the guy, after all.
"Social work and medical science." He answers simply. "I want to work in medical welfare when I'm older. What about you?
"Oh, that's cool. That's like helping people and stuff, right? And I'm not exactly sure what I want to do yet. Something with engineering, I guess? I'm still a little confused." You answer, slightly embarrassed. It seems like Natsuo knows what he wants to do what he wants to be, while you can't even get your shit together.
"That's completely fine. I'm not a hundred percent sure about anything myself." Natsuo says, reassuring you.

You two stayed up studying and joking around until three in the morning, and while you don't want to leave, you know you have to get back to your room and get some sort of sleep. This has been the most fun you've had in a while with someone. "Well, this was great, but I have to go."
"Yeah, I should get to bed too. I can't believe it's this late already." Natsuo murmurs in disbelief. "You better get used to it, because you're going to have to pull a lot of all-nighters, freshman."
You tease, winking at him, and making him laugh. Then you turn to leave, saying one last thing before you go. "See you later."
"Bye." He smiles back at you softly, watching you shut the door.
You've learned a lot about Natsuo today, and he's learned a lot about you. He's told you a lot, and it seems like he's a very open person. You know about his girlfriend, his likes and dislikes, and his dreams about the future. You're a little less open, but you managed to tell him a small portion of that.
Sitting on your bed, you check your phone, realizing Dabi texted you back earlier.
Dabi: Who's ur friend?
You: Sorry I just got back
You: This sounds kinda crazy but
You: It's Natsuo Todoroki
(A/N: Back again with the cliff hangers babyyyyy
