Sam Green, James's uncle and his deceased mother's brother was a very successful professional MMA fighter. He at one point became champion in the heavyweight division. He is the father figure of James and also his trainer. He trainer James and coached him during fights. He moved to Japan when his sister did and also made a successful career in Japan before retiring after winning the heavyweight championship again in Japan.
