When faced with military action, the teenagers with superpowers think quickly. Kali uses her powers to shield El, leaving her enough time to escape the military base and run home in the dark. Ethan, Will, and Hallow sprint after her, knowing they need to take cover and hide. Dustin grabs Kali and Jaeden and runs off with them, making sure they won't get lost in the dark woods and spooky town on the way.

So, the military never found El. They never found any of the kids.

Either way, with the bomb, the Upside Down destroyed, it doesn't matter anymore.

But, for good measure, Murray placed a bullet in Dr. Kay's head. He was served the same dish straight after.

Joyce, Nicole, and Enzo underwent hours of interrogation that night. They never pulled any of the others aside, probably liabilities with parents and most of them being minors, who knows.

And then, they packed up and left.

That night was over, for good. The government just... left. But, no complaints to be made, everyone in town is happy with that. No more lockdown, no more secrets.

A pillar was built outside of the library, commemorating the names of the lives lost in the murders and the great earthquake. They all visit it frequently, even those who may have barely known those on that list.

Max got a little credit for surviving, even though she lives in a wheelchair now. She's still a bit ambulatory, but needs a cane if she isn't drifting around in her wheelchair. She's gonna explore her options for a while, especially since Lucas is going to college. She's set on travelling with El, though. She looks great in a black cap and gown though, that's for sure.

Lucas does too, especially with all of his basketball trophies and tassels. He's all nice and cleaned up, ready for his mom to take a million pictures of him with his diploma. He sits nearly restless, leg bouncing. He's so happy to get out of this place, he can't contain it. He's already halfway packed for college. He'll be sharing a dorm with Mike, on a basketball scholarship, learning all sorts of new things.

Ethan didn't want to walk that stage until Will wanted to. Whatever his boyfriend does, he does too. He just wants to hurry on out of there so he can go find his parents for hugs and go somewhere fancy for dinner. Maybe sushi? He looks over at Jaeden and Hallow on his right, wanting to consider his siblings' opinions. It's their graduation night, too. He whispers to them, ignoring a glare from the principal on stage.

"Hey, should we do sushi? Or Italian?" he asks, stretching the fingers on his scarred hand out, "Mom wanted to know right after the ceremony so she could make a reservation."
