Hanna's POV

Today was the day everybody had been dreading, the Reaping. Every parent was holding their children just that much closer with fear that their name may be pulled out of those big glass balls.
Everyone except me.
I had no family. I lived with my best friend Cora and her mother. And her mother loved me as her own. But it wasn't the same. I missed my mother tucking me in ten years ago, and my father making breakfast. But at least I have a place to stay...
I was standing in a crowd of other 15 year olds, fear dancing in their eyes. Cora, who was 16, was standing in her age group, looking at me with horror.
"What?" I mouthed as everything went silent. Then I realized that Effie Trinket, yellow wig and dress, had said MY name with a big stupid grin on her face. Cora's mother at the back of the crowd eyed me with concern shaking her head, tears streaming down her face. I realized that it had been about three minutes and I had been frozen-staring at nothing. When I came to my senses, I walked slowly up to the stage hearing Cora bawling through the silence, and her mother screaming my name, begging them to let me go. I awkwardly walked up to the stage and felt shivers running down my spine.
"No...this can't be happening." I thought to myself.
"Please"
