Davina stirred lightly and rolled over, desperate for extra sleep.
She clutched a bruised hand around the towel she lay on as her eyes fluttered lightly in the cold.
The towel-
Davina's eyes snapped open as she sat up straight. Her eyes darted around the small clearing which she lay in.
She dragged her eyes across the towel, a burned out campfire, her pack and knife laid out in a small neat pile, and finally, her eyes found those of her kidnapper.
His iced eyes squinted dully at her before standing up with a huff, causing Davina to shuffle backwards on the towel.
His eyes flickered slightly as he stepped backwards.
Davina opened her mouth to speak but before any sound could get past her trembling lips, words came out of his.
"Good, your up, we're leaving." His voice was deep, a soft accent clearly present, perhaps he had grown out of it.
Davina scrunched her brows together in a mix of emotions.
She kept her eyes on his back as she reached for her knife and pack.
Seeming to know her intentions, the stranger spoke again.
"I wouldn't strike and run if I were you, bad idea, trust me."
He turned around to face her again, eyeing the knife.
"Look, we're on the same side okay? You don't know who I am, but I know you."
She frowned at him, visibly loosening the tight grip she had on the knifes handle.
"Hurry up, we're leaving. Oh and do me a favour and don't drop the knife this time, it is getting awfully tiring, cleaning up after you." He turned away and starting walking through the small clearing towards the thick woods.
Davina stared after him in an expression of uttermost confusion.
He knows me? We're on the same side? What. The. Hell?
Ignoring the gut feeling of terror inside her body, Davina lifted the pack and followed loosely on his rear.
"Keep up, I don't like people behind me." She heard his voice from in front.
She stayed the same pace until he stopped and turned.
"Why?" Davina seemed to find her voice finally.
"Oh look, she talks."
Davina glared at him, eyes burning holes through those annoying pretty eyes.
He rolled his eyes in defiance before continuing walking.
"I can tell we're going to be friends Davina."
Davina snapped her head up to look at the back of his walking frame.
She sauntered faster to catch up until she was a mere meter behind.
"How do you know my name?" She pressed, unsure of whether to be curious or afraid.
"I know the names of many Hydra operatives." His voice was uneasy, like he would lash out at any given moment.
"I am not Hydra" Davina spat furiously, even just the name of her former organisation brought on such disgust.
"Not anymore, which is what makes you Doll, so interesting."
Davina stayed silent, she wanted to hear what this man had to say, but didn't want to ask, something just didn't feel right about asking.
