"Can I see him before I leave?"

Davina stood at the doorway of her cell, her exhausted body was draped in new clean clothing, a little too big for her. Steve Rogers stood a few feet away from the open door, awaiting her exit.

He had come in earlier that morning to ask more worthless questions Davina didn't know the answer to. She'd answered honestly before Steve gave up, accepting that she didn't know much and decided she could leave.

"No." He spoke firmly.

Davina looked down at the navy trainers Steve had provided, desperately trying to stay calm.

She heard Steve sigh.

"Look kid-"

"Why do you call me kid?" Davina cut him off.

Steve looked up flabbergasted.

"I don't look much younger than you, well, minus the ice." Davina smirked.

Steve squinted his eyes, hiding amusement. "I'm not calling you Alexa."

Davina's held tilted to the side, displaying clear confusion, signally for Steve to continue with reasoning.

"I know your name isn't Alexa." His arms crossed over his chest. "Your not a stupid girl, you wouldn't use your real name."

Davina felt her heart rate fluttering against her chest.

"I'm not going to question it, because quite frankly Barnes will mention it sooner or later, that is, if your as important to him as he is to you." Steve raised an eyebrow.

Davina clenched her fists together behind her back.

"Fine.. Can I have my bag back?" She whispered.

"Seriously?" The captain looked amused.

Davina's head snapped upwards. "Yes seriously. Unlike you, I don't have Stark paying for all my necessities, everything in that pack is of vital importance to me... Asshole." She said the last word under her breath.

"Language."

Now was Davina's turn to raise an eyebrow.

Steve uncrossed his arms in pure annoyance and gestured for the girl to follow him down the brightly lit hallway.

They walked in silence until they reached an elevator. Steve pressed a button, and she felt the small box start to move.

"Steve..."

He didn't look at her.

"Please can I see him.."

Steve sighed and turned to her.

"I would let you, honestly I would... But, he's... he's not in a good place right now. Barnes lashed out when we brought him in, he wouldn't speak to anyone either. Visiting him would be a waste of time."

Davina stayed silent for a minute, trying to think of something to say.

"He, he trusts me Steve." The words flowed out of Davina mouth slowly. She wasn't sure if what she said was true, but she was willing to say anything that would allow he to see him, to say goodbye at least... To say thank you.

The girl looked over at Steve tense figure beside her, she tried to read his face.

"We're really not supposed to-"

"Under who's command?" Davina pressed, she was getting somewhere with this argument, she knew it.

Rogers wiped a hand through his hair, brushing it back against his scalp.
