[THIRD PERSON POV]

"Buck, seriously, I can walk, i'm fine." Davina huffed, stepping out of the car and walking towards the compound with slow, unsteady steps.

Two weeks in the hospital was far too long, the doctors had to practically strap Davina down to the bed to prevent the girl from going on a coffee run. They'd let her out a day early due to Tony's... Persuasive Techniques, as he called them.

Bucky had come to visit every day, staying overnight whenever the doctors wouldn't kick him out. Wanda had come with Steve a few times, and Nat had brought her coffee once or twice. Tony would call her every couple of days, mostly to assure her that he had restrained himself from beating the living shit out of her psychotic boyfriend. The others had been on constant missions back and fourth between Sri Lanka and Hong Kong, so she didn't blame them for not stopping by.

"At least let me grab your bag doll, please." Bucky whined, yanking the bag from her weak grasp and slinging it over his shoulder with ease, a giant smirk playing on his lips as he kissed the top of her head.

Davina rolled her eyes as he wrapped his flesh arm around her waist, desperate to provide as much support as possible. "Bucky, babe. I know you feel bad, but I promise you, i'm fine." She groaned, pulling away from his hold and walking forwards on her own.

HYDRA had taught her many lessons over he lifetime, one of the more valuable ones that tended to stick in her mind. "никогда ни на кого не полагайся."  That was a lesson she had taken to heart and never forgotten.

"VINNIE!" Wanda yelped, running and smashing herself into the other girls arms. Davina held back her cry of pain and instead wrapped her arms around the ginger girl. God she'd missed this maniac.

"I missed you..." She whispered. "I missed you too Wanda." Davina laughed, pulling away.

"It's been so quiet here without you, thank God we won't have Bucky moping around banging his head into walls-"

"Okay Wanda thank you." Bucky cut in, walking away from the girls to go put Davina's bag in her room.

The two girls snickered behind his back, covering their mouths to stop their laughter from getting too out of control. "Was he seriously that bad?" Davina asked, slight concern lacing her voice, but covering it with laughter.

"He- He took it badly babes." Wanda whispered. "I heard about.. I'm so sorry Vinnie." Her voice cracked slightly at the mention of the baby. Davina's laughter died down instantly and she felt as if a grey cloud were looming over her head, refusing her happiness.

Davina shone her a fake smile, waving off the depression cloud. "It's okay, I'm not ready for that anyways." She sighed, lying through her teeth to assure the other girl.

"Oh I almost forgot, a letter came for Bucky. I mean, who the hell even sends letters anymore?" Wanda spoke oddly, an obvious motive to change the subject. If anyone knew how to distract Davina from all her life problems, it was Wanda.

Davina chuckled nervously. "Why are you telling me about a letter addressed to him, I mean, it isn't really any of my business?"

Wanda looked around while simultaneously rubbing the back of her neck in discomfort. "Vinnie he's been.. Acting weird about it ever since. I was there when he read it and- I don't know, he just got really pale and wouldn't speak to anyone about it. He didn't exactly look sad, but he clearly wasn't thrilled about it either. I just, I have a gut feeling about this Vinnie, and I tend to trust my gut so, talk to him.. Please."

Davina sighed heavily while nodding. "I'm sure it's nothing, I'll ask him about it later though."

Wanda's smile reappeared on her face at the reassurance. "Great! Okay, now I can tell your depressed for obvious reasons.. Do you know what my cure for that is?"

Davina rolled her eyes and smiled softly. "Let me guess, sou-"

"SOUP!" Wanda yelled, causing Clint to glare at her from across the room. "Clint's just jealous I won't make him any of my special soup Vinnie." Wanda whispered in her ear, leading the girl towards the elevator.

"Hey Buck.. Can we talk for a second?" Davina pressed casually, not wanting to freak him.

The pair were seated on the concrete floor of her small balcony, pillows and blankets surrounding them. Stars seemed to dance wildly around the night sky as Davina sipped on her third bowl of Wanda's special soup. It really was some fucking special soup.

Bucky looked up at her slowly, his mind buzzing. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong, why must you always presume the worst?" She chuckled, trying to lighten up what was to come.

He laughed nervously. "It's a habit."

The duo were silent for a couple minutes before Davina gulped and spoke up again. "So, Wanda told me you received a letter recently. I wouldn't usually bring stuff like this up because I hate being pushy, but she said you seemed... Off-"

"I received a letter seven days ago from King T-Challa of Wakanda." He cut in, eyes not leaving the stars. She noticed his fists clenched and unclenched slightly as he spoke, until they finally relaxed once he finished speaking.

Davina placed her soup down on the floor next to her and shifted her body to face him. "Oh? What did it say?" She asked.

Bucky took in a short breath. "The King would like me to undergo a process that could possibly remove whatever the hell HYDRA's done to my head... The Winter Soldier." He spoke bluntly.

"Are you serious?" Davina gasped, breaking out an enormous grin. Her smile only faltered and dropped completely at the sight of Bucky's blank, emotionless expression. "Isn't this a good thing Bucky? That's what we've been trying to do for the past five months.." Realisation clicked in her head and she took in a shaky breath before asking the dreaded question she didn't want an answer to. "What's the catch?"

"Doll, I'd have to go back into the Cryo Freeze... For a year."
