Chapter 27

(Jennifer)

Nick hasn't called in weeks. I know he should be coming home soon, unless filming was delayed or something. I glare out the kitchen window. "Are you okay?" Chris asks, startling me. "Yeah, sorry." I turn towards him. Chris and I have been spending a lot of time together, and we've gotten really close. I guess we're almost like best friends, except sometimes he flirts with me, and I let him. "So, your brothers coming over?" He takes a step close to me so we're almost inches away. "Yeah, Blaine. He'll be here around three-ish." I explain. "Do I get to meet him?" He stares down at me with big blue puppy dog eyes. I smile. "No...I just don't think it would be a good idea. He's very protective." I say. "I'll leave in a few minutes then, give you time alone." He smirks at me. "What?" I ask, giggling. "Jen, I know that you like me. So, please just come over to my house and have dinner tonight. I'm sure your brother would love to watch Collin and Ali." I barely catch the last part as I'm watching his mouth move. "Like a date?" I ask, nervous. He's asked me out a few times and I never said yes. "Don't worry, you don't even have to give me a goodnight kiss if you don't want to." He says, making me laugh. "Okay, fine. I'll ask Blaine to watch them and I'll see you tonight." I take a deep breath. This is wrong, I know that, but he said I didn't even have to kiss him. It's just dinner. Nothing's going to happen. I eat dinner with him all the time. "See you tonight." He brushes his body against mine as he walks past and I wait and listen for the door to shut before I breathe again. I see a text appear from Blaine and open it.

Blaine: I'll be there in an hour

Jennifer: great, I can't wait to see you. Can you watch the twins for a while so I can go out with a friend? I won't be long.

Blaine: yeah, we'll throw a party while your gone

Jennifer: great just don't break anything (and by that I mean bones)

Blaine: I promise I'll take good care of Collin and Ali

Jennifer: k see you soon

I quickly text Chris and tell him I'll be over in an hour, then I run upstairs to the bathroom.

I shower and wrap myself up in a towel, before walking into my room. I stare at my closet, wondering what to wear. I hear a loud knock on the door and run downstairs.

I open the door and Blaine walks in. "Hey, the kids just went to sleep, so they should be out for a while." I close the door behind him. He sets his stuff down, sits on the couch, and I follow him. "I'm gonna go get dressed. It'll only take a second." He nods and I walk upstairs.
