Nick and I walk outside into the backyard and find my old swing set. Nick sits down and I lean up against the pole, watching him swing. "So, I've been trying to get a part in this movie, but I wanted to make sure you're okay with it first." He scratches behind his ear. "Okay." I'm unsure of what else I could say. "Okay?" He looks at me, confused. "We both knew this would happen Nick, I'm not gonna stop you from trying to have a career." He seems to relax. "So what's it called?" I ask, smiling at him. "Equals." He slows down his swinging. "Is anyone I know in it?" I'm intrigued by this new movie. "Kristen Stewart so far, you know her right?" He looks at me, still a little nervous. "Yeah, of course. Why are you still so nervous, Nicky?" I stroke his hair. "Well, if I get the part she's um....the main character and it's like a romance movie kinda and I don't want you to freak out about it." He's all twitchy. I wait a few minutes before responding. "Nick, it's okay. You didn't freak out about Josh, did you? It's just acting." I try to relax him. "Yeah." He's still unsure. He wasn't entirely okay with Josh, but neither am I about Kristen. "You wanna go back now? I'm sure my parents wanna see us for a while before we leave." I say, breaking the awkward silence radiating around us. "Yeah." He gets up and walks with me towards the house.
We step inside and my mom immediately asks where we've been. "The backyard, mom." I reply. "We were talking about Nick's new movie." I try directing the attention to him. "Well, I haven't got the part yet." He mumbles, as we walk to the living room. Then he continues to tell them what he told me, leaving out the part about Kristen. I cross and uncross my legs, waiting for him to finish, then I excuse myself to go take a shower.
I wash my hair first, and the hot water drizzles down my back. It's soothing. I finish and dry off as quickly as possible. Our flights in a few hours. I get dressed in comfortable clothes and start packing my stuff, then Nick's. I check the room and make sure I haven't left anything, then I walk downstairs with our luggage. I leave it by the door and join Nick and my parents back in the living room. "Can we order a pizza?" I sit down with Nick, they were talking about what we should have for dinner. "Pizza sounds great, I'll go call right now." My mom gets up and walks to the kitchen. "So, if you do get the part, when does filming start?" I turn to Nick. "A few months." He says. I'm supposed to be due in like a few months. "So, I guess you'll be getting a call soon." I try to smile. "Yeah, I think if I got it they would've called me by now though." He sighs.
We eat our pizza and make conversation with my parents. I hate leaving them, they're always so happy when we visit. I take my suitcase and put it in my moms car, then Nick puts his in. My mom drives us to the airport and it's mostly quiet.
Nick and I get on the plane and take our seats. It's raining. I watch the rain drip down the window and look over at Nick. He's watching me. "I can't wait to get home, I hate planes." I try to break the silence.
A/N: sorry short chapter, I'm almost done with the next one though too.
