Oh god it's so hot! I thought as I walked down my street to the park where I was meeting my friends. The sun belted down on me as I walked and it was humid, like, really humid. The weather did crazy things to my curly hair, making it even more frizzy than normal. I hate summer in Cairns, when the clouds tease you with rain, but they never give away a drop. That's what it's like in Cairns, hot and humid, or wet and humid, and that was it. But luckily for me, there is a stream just near the park, and my friends and I all have pools, so we practically live in our swimmers between December and March.

I made it to the pathway that sloped and turned leading to the park and was already sweating, god it was hot. I walked along the path with my music blaring in my ears, Pierce The Veil ft. Kellin Quinn - King For A Day, epic song. I walked along and looked up to see if anyone was at the table we always met at, but so far it was empty, making me first again. It didn't bother me though, it just have me more time to think.

I reached the seats and table and sat down, enjoying the shade of the mango trees that towered above me. I looked at the time on my iPod '11:48' it read, I still had at least ten minutes before they got here, so I kept my iPod out and opened up my writing app. I stared at the empty document for a while, then my fingers started to move over the keypad like there was no tomorrow. I was in one of my zones, typing away and listening to my music too loud, when someone sat down in front of me, making me jump up from mine.

"Holy crap! Where'd you come from?" I asked the person.

"Sorry, but I thought you looked lonely," they replied. I turned off my music and saved my work then looked up to the person who startled me.

Wow, was all I could think. This guy may have just scared me, but damn he was good looking! He had light brown hair that was almost blonde on some parts. It was cut so that he had a fringe that went off to the right side of his face, and it was short at the back, spiked up naturally I guessed. He looked a little older than me, but he had amazing eyes, I couldn't quite figure out what colour though, green? Hazel? Bluey-grey? I must have been staring at him for a while or something, because a questioning look crossed his face.

"Sorry," I said, "Um, do I know you?" He laughed.

"No, I'm Michael. I just moved up here from Sydney, and my mum told me to get off the computer so I came down here to see if there was anything interesting out here, but it's just hot." He, Michael, said glumly. He made me smile for some reason.

"Nice to meet you, and enjoy the heat, it doesn't change for a while and given its January, you will be stuck with it for at least two more months. Winter isn't exactly cold either," I joked.

"Thanks for the heads up," he said sarcastically, "But don't I get to know your name?" He asked pouting. I laughed because it was kind of cute, even though I just met him.

"I guess I should tell you, seeing as you are the only person I have to talk to right now and all," I said looking around to see if my friends were coming. Nothing. "My names Hayley. I've been here for about seven years and still die in the summer," I said, putting my hand across the table for him to shake. What the hell? I never shake hands when I meet some one! No, I just thought he was good looking and wanted to hold his hand. He took my hand and shook it, I don't think I have ever seen a guy wear so many bracelets, he had even more than I did!
