The door opened and closed, and someone sit on the edge of the bed. I kept my eyes shut and my breathing steady, but the tears kept coming. Whoever this was, I wanted them to just leave me alone, I wanted to just cry right now. I felt them move a little closer and put there hand on my shoulder. Unfortunately, I flinched and I heard them chuckle.
'I know you're awake now.' It was Ashton.
'So?' I sniffed.
'You ok? I heard you crying,' he said laying down next to me.
'I'm fine,' I said.
'You sure?' He asked again.
'Yes, just tired,' I repeated, getting annoyed.
'Ok then,' Ashton said, not believing me. 'Night,' he said as he walked out of the room.
'Night,' I mumbled. I lay there in silent darkness then, just waiting to fall asleep.
The light from outside shone brightly into the room through the thin curtains that hung over the windows. I sighed and rubbed my eyes, they were sore from crying, but I didn't feel sad anymore. To be honest, I didn't feel anything, I was just numb. It was like my emotions had just shut down, it was like my body was over feeling anything, so resorted to feeling nothing.
I rolled onto my back and closed my eyes, trying to think of a good reason to get up. I had been there for a while when I turned to look at my clock next to my bed. 9:37. What the hell had me waking up this early? I sighed and got up, walking to the bathroom to wash my face. I walked in and closed the door behind me, looking in the mirror and seeing I was a mess. My eyes were red, my hair was everywhere, and I had dark circles under my eyes; it reminded of Michael when I woke up.
I turned on the tap and put my hands under the cold water, filling my hands then splashing it on my face. It woke me up pretty quickly, I looked back in the mirror and watched the water running down my face. What had happened to me? The doctors said I was fine, but I didn't believe them. I dried my face and opened the door only to run into a tall body.
'Oh, sorry,' Calum said. I looked up and smiled, but it felt unnatural.
'It's all good,' I said walking out.
'You sleep good?' Calum asked standing in the doorway.
'Yeah, I slept fine,' I lied, 'You?'
'I haven't slept yet, Luke and I pulled an all-nighter, but he's crashed on the couch now,' Calum laughed.
'I see, well, I'm going to go find some breakfast,' I said walking to the kitchen. I passed the lounge room on the way, and saw Luke laying in the couch with his head on the arm of the chair. I sighed and walked into the kitchen, wondering where things would be. I started with the pantry and found some peanut butter and Nutella. Then I looked in the freezer and found a loaf of bread. I took out two pieces and defrosted them in the microwave.
As the timer went off, someone else walked in and sat at the counter. I turned and saw Michael sitting there with a smile on his face, but it wasn't his usual happy smile. I put my bread on a plate and and sat next to him, taking the spreads with me. I put them on the bench and he put his arm around my waist and kissed my cheek.
