Ten years ago, I was a seventeen year old in love with the most beautiful girl in the world. Ten years ago, I lost her. The sun shone as I slowly walked along the pathway that led to her grave. I had come here every year on the exact same day since it happened. Today was no different.

In my hand, I held a bunch of roses, they were her favourite. I walked along slowly, when I was suddenly engulfed in a wave of sadness. Tears pricked in my eyes and my breathing becalmed laboured. I needed her with me, after all this time I still needed her.

I reached her final resting place. Nothing seemed to have changed at all. The old flowers had wilted and died, but that was about the only significant changed you could see. I placed the flowers down and read over her grave stone again; for the thousandth time.

'Here lays Hayley Renee Jones.

14-02-1998 - 17-02-2013

Daughter and friend always wearing a smile.

Forever in our hearts.'

I hated that they ha put 'always wearing a smile' because it was one if the biggest lies. She don't always smile, she was broken, and nobody noticed to help her. I tried, but I didn't try hard enough. I sat down next to her and took a deep breath, blinking back my tears.

'Hey beautiful,' I mumbled. 'Would you believe Luke got married the other week? It was a great wedding. You would've loved it. He even made a toast to you, because he read out one of the speeches you wrote ages ago. The one about some infinities being bigger than others, and that he wanted his to be one of the biggest. I'm pretty sure he cried, I know I did. But everyone knew it was your work baby. They loved it.'

An elderly woman walked past me then, she looked to me and smiled sadly, I returned it.

'Who are you here to see?' She asked.

'My girlfriend,' I replied.

'After ten years? She was a lucky girl,' the lady smiled sadly agin.

'I was lucky. Who are you here to see?' I asked her, not wanting to go into Hayley's story again.

'My sister,' she said. I smiled and nodded. She walked off and left me to continue talking.

'So yeah. As for Ashton, him and Jasmine have a little girl! They are so happy, and why wouldn't they be? They were tossing up what to call her, when they decided to go with Renee, in memory of you. I'm not the only one who does little things like that to remember you. We all do it. We all miss you so much.' A few tears fell from my eyes then.

'Calum, well, he and Sally have stayed together through this all. He's actually going to propose to her soon. He worries about her sometimes though, because she will kind of just sit there and go through pictures and videos of you guys. She won't say anything, just sit there and watch. But Calum takes good care of her, don't worry. He loves her more than anything.' I smiled, thinking of how much he really did.

'Finally, me. I have a wife and I love her so much. But I still love you too. She's beautiful, and she can paint amazingly. We are trying to start a family too. She is going to be a great mum, and apparently I'll make a good dad too. As for the band, we are still writing and performing, but we're taking a break for now. Every album, I write a song for you too, I hope you like them. You will always be my inspiration.'

I looked down at my watch and saw I had to get going soon. Sighing, I looked back to Hayley.

'I have to go, but I'll come back soon. I love you darling. Goodbye,' I said, standing up and waving to her grave stone.

I walked back down the pathway to my car. I opened the door and got in, starting the engine. I drove around to Ashton's place, as we were having a little get together there. It was a memorial for Hayley that happened every year; we just sat around and talked about her, watched videos and looked at pictures. It was our way of not forgetting someone who changed our lives so dramatically.

I pulled out outside and cut the engine. I looked up to the sky darkening to the deep oranges and pinks that always fascinated Hayley. I smiled and walked in to be greeted by everyone. I think we had finally moved on. We hadn't forgotten, but we were happy with life. Hayley should be too, watching us from up there. Everything seemed right and in place.
