I was locked in my bedroom for the entirety of the night, and throughout the day. While I'm still recovering, my uncle decided to speed up the wedding despite his and Eric's injuries, so that there will be no time for anymore escape attempts. Guards were posted inside and out of my bedroom, and the small windows were laced with barbed wire and locked tight. Gloves were added to the dress ensemble to hide the bandages on my hands and wrists that came from Doffy's razor sharp strings. My hair was pulled up into a princess bun and I managed to convince the makeup artist to put on light makeup, despite her suggestion to hide the bruises on my cheek.
It may be my wedding day... but this wedding isn't mine. There isn't any point of looking my best... There isn't going to be any of my friends, I won't see the smiling faces of Max or Uncle Nash balling his eyes out in joy as he walked me down the aisle. As I'm taking my vows, I'll be forced to look up to a man who I cannot imagine waking up with every morning. The man who hates bread but is willing to make french toast just to make me smile, or talk about books we've read, and play little pranks just so we can see their reaction. As the veil is draped over my face, I couldn't help but pour my heart out as the memories I've had with everyone played in my mind. As we prepare to leave and walk to the banquet hall, a knock was at my door and a voice spoke.
"It's Dellinger, let me in." Without a second thought, the guards open the door and he slowly waltzes in. I glance through the veil to see him wearing his usual hat, with a tailored suit capris dress pants and black heels. He looks at me with a blank expression and smiles before waving to everyone. "Leave us alone for a moment, guys. I want to personally give my congratulations to the lucky bride!"
Without so much as a glance back towards me, the ladies and gentlemen all evacuate the room and the doors shut. Dellinger smiles as he walks around me and he laughs.
"I would say you look stunning, but it's not good to lie on a wedding day."
"That's fine with me, the worse I look, the less chance Eric will try to kiss the bride." I grumble and he stops before he burst out laughing.
"You know, I'd might actually like you in another reality. However..." suddenly there's a pistol to my temple and the room grows cold. "You stabbed Doffy."
In that moment, a thousand thoughts ran through my mind... But there was one thing that screamed louder than the rest as I look him dead in the eyes and grabbed his hand.
"Empty threats are never as intimidating as you think."
He almost looks surprised when his smile falters before he flashes those shark teeth and laughs. "You never cease to surprise little corazon! It's honestly a shame your father isn't here to see it!"
He pulls back the pistol and I sigh, before glancing curiously and cross my arms.
"So... other than saying I look like trash and pointing a empty pistol in my face, is there anything else you want to tell me? Or do you want to try threatening me again?"
He chuckles as he sits down and shakes his head. "Not at all! Actually, I'm here to give you an early wedding gift!" He says as he waves the pistol around and I recognize it. It's the same pistol Kid gave me before I parted ways with the Kid Pirates in Fuyi.
"And what exactly am I supposed to do with an unloaded gun? Is it supposed to be a decorative piece or something?"
"Not at all! I decided in the spirit of our mutual dislike towards one another... I'm giving you an opportunity to try and escape again."
I whip over to him as my eyes lock with his and my brows furrow as I shake my head. "You wouldn't go against my uncle's wishes... and plus, what am I supposed to do with an empty pistol?"
