As I wait for Law, I sit on the outside deck. Fortunately Jean and them were able to find a cove that allows us easy access to land and the ocean if needed. In the open cavern, there was enough light and space for us to walk around freely without risk of exposure. So, not quite ready to confine myself in the cramped space of the sub, I figured it best to enjoy the open air for a bit, and allow for my mind to wander as I drew in my sketchbook.Using some small charcoal, I allow my mind to wander and my hands do their usual dance along the page. I was lost in a daze, what tried to be a distraction, only turned into something that only focused my thoughts. My hands were covered in black but I didn't care. Carefully I smoothed out the soft features, careful not to smudge into the light tones of her skin. Finally, I'm left staring down at a portrait of my mother, only rather than the sickly dark hues under her closed eyes, I kept her skin flawless. Her face rests peacefully... I stared at the picture and unconsciously my hand lightly touched the portrait, leaving a subtle handprint.
"Mom..." I mumble in a daze. The foreign word slips so smoothly pass my lips, and my heart aches into my very soul.
My eyes widen as I realize my handprint, and quickly I reach my kneadable eraser to only hear someone clearing their throat, causing me to stop. I look back and I freeze as I see my little brother standing along the caverns land entrance, his expression calm but serious as always.
"What's up? Here to tell me off again?" I sigh, already preparing myself for his sharp tongue as I close my book and stand.
"... Can we talk? In private?" He asks and his gaze grows softer.
I was hesitant, but at the same time, I grew curious to what made him come out here. My best assumption is that Law told him of our whereabouts. I simply nod, and keeping my sketchbook in hand I jump off the ship and land along the shore.
"Is walking okay?" I asks and he nods as we head out the cavern and into the lush greenery of the wilderness.
We walked in silence for a while, my eyes glancing from him to the forest. Normally, I'd stop to think about drawing such beautiful scenery - yet my mind could only focus on why he called me out here, and why he suddenly has a softer aura about him.
" How's your head? Banged it pretty hard this morning.." He says suddenly and I raise a brow.
"Fine... I guess. Still a little tender from your attack." I respond and his brows furrow.
"Maybe I wouldn't have attacked, if you'd just tried to wake me up like a normal person would."
"I don't think you noticed, but neither you or I are 'normal' people here." I reply just as snarky and he shoots me a glare. "If I had known it was your bedroom, I would've just tapped the window or something."
" You!... No, this isn't why I came here." He sighs after stopping himself and shakes his head. He walks in from of me, causing us to stop and I watch him curiously, confused to what his intentions are.
"... Look, I'm sorry." He says flatly and I look at him in shock before tilting my guy head.
"Wait, what?"
"I said, 'I'm sorry.' Despite you being a pirate and a Donquixote, you're still my sister... I shouldn't treat you like I have been." He confesses and I'm too shocked to say anything but suddenly there was a weight that was lifted off my chest and I couldn't help but smile.
His eyes meet mine, and immediately he turns away as his arms cross. "However, as much as I regret treating you... I can't let you stay on the island long. Once the war is over, I will let you say goodbye to mom, and carry on with what you need to find the cure... but after that, you will not have any contact with us again."
