Yuji offered to escort you back to where the rest of your friends were gathered at, soon after. The two of you caught up with each other, briefly summing up everything that happened while he was absent. You immediately realized that Yuji was intentionally avoiding speaking about what he did while he was away, just by looking at his slightly distraught and downcast face.

"Yuji?" you exclaimed softly while the boy hummed as a response and turned his head to look at you. You slowly came to a hault, the boy stopping as well, just a few feet away from you, as he fully turned to face you.

"Are you okay?" you questioned, noticing how he froze for a few moments, but recovered quickly, hoping that you didn't realize the change in his expression and how his usually cheerful features hid pain.

You definitely noticed.

"Y-Yeah, (Y/N)-chan! Why do you ask?" he replied looking around, avoiding to look at you in the eyes. He offered you a small awkward chuckle while rubbing his nape but he knew he couldn't escape you.

You knew him all to well to not notice that something serious happened while he was gone. It was all written on his face. You took slow steps towards him, standing in front of him with a determined expression, your eyes still remaining as gentle as ever.

"Look. I know you. I know that something's wrong, I can tell by looking at your face. But I won't pressure you. You can always talk to me about anything that bothers you. You can tell me whenever you're ready, okay?" you said with a steady voice, rubbing his shoulder in a comforting manner, as his eyes met yours once again.

You offered him a sweet smile, as the two of you just stood there for a few seconds, staring at each other, cherishing the moments you two shared together. You cleared your throat in slight embarrassment, feeling your cheeks heat up as you retracted your hand.

"Come on, let's go find the others" you exclaimed, walking past him expecting him to follow you but he never did. He just stood there, staring at the blank space in front of him, contemplating about whether he should talk to you or not.

He wanted to speak about it to you, he really did. But the thought of becoming a burden and weighing you with his problems held him back. He was afraid that you would be troubled and worried about his well-being, that you would constantly be on edge about whether he's okay or not.

He knew he could trust you with anything and that you would patiently wait for him to open up to you, but just thinking he could be bothersome made him have second thoughts about it.
