"Having fun without me now, aren't you?" a voice teased from afar as you chuckled to yourself not breaking eye contact with Mai, who was pretty tense, her gun pointing at you.
"Took you long enough to find me" you retorted as you heard footsteps approaching you, the person hiding in the shadows finally stepping out with a smirk on their face and a hand on their hip.
"I am here now, so be grateful I am blessing you with my presence. Besides, I think it's time we had our chance to shine together, don't you think?" the girl mused, her hand holding a katana and pointing it at Mai, who had a really pissed off expression plastered on her face.
"Can't argue with that, Maki" you retorted as you laid one of your hands on your hip, your other hand, holding the cursed tool resting on your shoulder. The girl stood by your side, smirking while looking at the black haired Kyoto student in front of her.
"So, who do you want? The one up there or the one here?" Maki questioned, pointing her katana upwards. You didn't even need to look up to know that a certain blonde girl was flying above your heads, hiding among the tree branches and trying to pull out a sneak attack on you.
"As much as I would like to beat her ass..." you started, pointing your weapon at Mai, the girl sending a glare your way. "... I think I should not be the one to defeat her" you finished, glancing at Maki who sent a tiny smile at you, silently thankful that you understood the situation and realized that she wanted to face her sister.
"Well then... Shall we?" she teased getting into a fight stance, as you let out a small chuckle, mimicking her position.
"After you" you retorted as Maki hummed with amusement, immediately charging at her sister. You ordered your mantaray shikigami to attack the blonde girl, the creature obeying and moving towards the girl, gracefully gliding among the many trees.
The shikigami chased the girl, sending a few attacks her way and making her loose her balance momentarily, as you followed close behind. Jumping up in the air as high as you could you used your spear to knock the girl off her broom but she reacted before you could land a hit on her, quickly dodging the attack.
"Attack her!" you shouted as the panther-like shikigami moved its tail, a few of the crystals on it flying towards the blonde girl, who once again managed to dodge, with the mantaray shikigami still chasing her.
