READERS POV

I lay in the soft grass of the palace gardens, staring up at the twinkling stars, and listening to the babble of the water fountain, that nearly drowned out the sound of the music echoing out of the palace. I was one of Queen Frigga's personal handmaidens, and earlier in the morning I had taken a tumble down a flight of stairs, coming away bruised and with a broken wrist. My injury had left me exempt from serving tonight at the ball Odin was hosting, so here I was, trying to make the most of the beautiful night.

The plaster around my wrist kept me from doing a lot of things, but being outside under the stars, breathing in the fresh air, was an exceptional way to spend my time. The wonderful scent of fresh flowers wafted around me, and I felt like I was in a dream. The palace gardens were magical, and I'd spend all my time here if I could. I was so caught up in my daydream, that I failed to notice that someone was approaching me.

"It's a beautiful night, isn't it?" A voice sounds from beside me, and I glance up to see Prince Loki.

I quickly scrambled to my feet and took a few steps away from him as I dusted off my dress. "P-Prince Loki I-."

"Please, darling. Just Loki is alright."

"Okay." I responded quietly, a soft smile gracing my lips.

"Darling, you never answered my question." He stated, and my stomach fluttered. It felt like I had butterflies every time he called me that.

"Yes. It's wonderful out tonight. I'm almost thankful for this..." I paused, raising my wrist to show him my cast. "Otherwise, I'd be stuck inside, and this beauty would escape me."

Loki smiled at my words, walking towards me, and gently taking my injured wrist in his hands. I turned my gaze to watch him as he examined my cast, gently maneuvering my arm to view it at all angles. "What happened, darling?"

There it was again. The fluttering. My cheeks flushed red out of embarrassment, and I directed my eyes away from him. "I fell down a flight of stairs earlier," I admitted.

He let out a soft chuckle, releasing my wrist. "Well, that wasn't a smart idea now, was it?"

"No. I guess not." I avow.

Loki grins at me, then turns his attention to the song that had begun to play. It had a slower pace, and he held his hand out for me to take. "May I have this dance?"

I stared at his hand, hesitating for a moment.

"Darling, I promise I would not be asking you if I did not desire to do so."

I lifted my gaze up, seeing nothing but honesty in his brilliant blue eyes, and I gently placed my small hand in his large one. Loki offered me a smile, which I returned, before tugging me closer. My one hand clasped his, my injured one coming up to rest on his shoulder, as he placed his other hand politely on my waist. Loki began to sway us as the warm nighttime breeze whirled by, causing my dress to billow around our legs.

"Darling, I never learned your name. It would be much appreciated if I could put a name to a beautiful creature such as yourself," Loki confessed.

I looked up at him bashfully at his words. "Y/N. My name is Y/N."

"A beautiful name for a beautiful lady."

"Thank you."

We fell silent after, continuing to sway as the delicate sounds of the night, and beautiful orchestral music surrounded us. The moonlight cast a radiant glow over our forms, acting as a spotlight for two souls who danced freely in the luscious garden, underneath the sparkling stars.

Loki twirled me as the song came to an end and thinking that he only wanted one dance I moved to pull away, but he had other plans. He pulled me closer, releasing my hand and quickly wrapping both of his arms around my waist, my hands timidly bracing themselves against his chest. "The night is still young, darling." He spoke.

I smiled, gaining a bit of confidence as I slid my hands up locking them around his neck, before resting my head over his heart. We began to sway again, and Loki dipped his head, beginning to sing quietly into my ear. I never wanted this moment to end.

"Can we stay here forever?" I asked.

Loki let out a small laugh before responding. "I wish darling, but every night must come to an end. However, anything my princess desires I will make certain to attain. If she so wishes to dance every night in the garden, then we shall dance every night in the garden. Come rain or shine."

His princess? I thought, my mind ignoring everything else that he said.

"I can almost hear your thoughts love. Yes, my princess. You're mine now." He affirmed.

I pulled my head away from his chest, looking up at him with a small grin. Loki gave me a soft smile in turn, tilting his head down to press a delicate kiss to my forehead, before tucking my head under his chin. I let my arms fall from around his neck, bringing them around his waist as I snuggled more into him. His cool body was a stark contrast to the warm air that enwreathed us.

My mind finally caught up to the rest of what he declared. "We can really dance in the garden every night?"

"Every night for as long as you yearn to do so, darling."

"Okay."

FRIGGA'S POV

My eyes skimmed over the ballroom looking for Loki, knowing my son well enough to know that he did not fancy being at these events. When I could not find him, I excused myself and began making my way over to the balcony, having a strong inkling at where he might have run off to.

I stepped out into the warm air, peering over the edge into the gardens below. I was met with an unexpected sight but smiled anyway as I watched Loki and Y/N dance underneath the moonlight.

I observed the pair of them a moment longer, catching Loki lean down to press a kiss to her forehead, and I knew that he already adored her. I did too, it was hard not to with a gentle soul such as herself. Taking a deep breath, I glimpsed into their future, seeing a long, happy life ahead of them; though not without its hardships (Odin). A smile graced my face as I returned inside, knowing they were safe, and content in each other's arms.
