READERS POV

I always considered myself pretty smart for my age, which is why when I had the chance to escape, I took it. I knew what those horrible people were doing to me was wrong. What I didn't account for was them finding me so quickly. 

"No! Leave me alone! I don't want to go back!" I yelled as I ran away from the agents chasing me. 

"Unfortunately, little girls like you don't get to make decisions like that. You're coming with us Y/N." One of them replied. 

At that, I started running even faster. As fast as my little legs could take me. I turned back for a second to look and saw that they were basically right behind me, causing me to freak out. When I get scared, I can't control my powers. 

One of the agents reached for me and next thing I knew, large spikes of ice were coming out of my hand, impaling the two of them. 

My small hand went to my mouth in shock at what I had just done. "No, no, no." I whimpered out. 

I ran down the nearest alley and curled up into a ball. "What did I just do?"

BUCKY'S POV

It was quiet tonight as I strolled down the streets of Brooklyn. No one at the tower knew that I went on these walks, besides Steve, and I was hoping to keep it that way. They seemed to be my only moment of peace. 

It was only a few minutes later when I heard a struggle coming from down the street. I jogged a little faster and froze for a moment when I saw it. 

There was a little girl, no older than four running from two HYDRA agents. They were unmistakeable even in the dark with the bright red patches on their upper arms. 

I made my way over to help when ice suddenly shot out of the little girls' hands, impaling the two agents. She must have been an experiment and managed to escape. The little girl looked shocked at what she had done and booked it down the nearest alley. 

Snapping out of my daze, I ran over to the alley. She's coming home with me. I'm not letting her go back there. 

READERS POV

It had only been a couple minutes when I heard footsteps start down the alley that I was hiding in. 

Please don't let it be them, I thought to myself. Please, please, please.

My head had been down, but I spared a glance up. A man stood there looking at me. He looked kinda scary, but he seemed gentle. 

"Are you okay?" He asked softly. "I saw what happened."

My whole body was shaking as I continued to stare at him. "Please don't take me back there. Please." I sobbed.

"I'm not going to take you back sweetheart," the man said taking a few steps closer to me. 

"No, please don't come any closer. I don't want to hurt you." I spoke, barely a whisper. 

"You're not gonna hurt me sweetie. I promise. Can I please come closer?" 

I looked at him for a moment. Can I trust him? I thought. He doesn't seem like those HYRDA guys. I pondered for another minute before slowly nodding my head.
