The waves hit the shore line and somehow everything feels ok again. Somehow the world stopped moving around me and it was just me and the water, nothing or no one else mattered. I can't stop thinking about the small thing with Darbi. She didn't have any right to act like that. I mean really? 'What's wrong with harmless flirting?' Everything is wrong with it when someone in that situation has genuine feelings for you.

I lay back on the sand and close my eyes for just a moment, too really try and feel the warm air and listen to the ocean. It's times like these that I wish I had someone to share this with. I want to come on walks down the shore line and laugh as the water tickles our feet. I know how lame that sounds, trust me but the truth is, I'm tired of sleeping around. I'm over the different girls every night. I'm over the endless parties and waking up still drunk. I'm done with it all. I just want someone to love me like I love the water.

I lift my head off the ground when I hear someone talking in the distance. It sounds like they're talking to a baby, maybe an animal? I look around the beach till I spot a familiar face.

Emery, from the bar.

I watch as she walks with her dog a few feet in front of her. She was running with the dog, the most contagious smile on her face. She suddenly stopped when she saw me. I knew I scared her by the way her face dropped drastically. We make eye contact but say nothing, like our eyes were talking for us. After a long while of just staring she grabs her dog and walks off.

Fuck Cal, now you seem like some creep. I think about it for a split second before I'm on my feet, trying to catch her before she gets in her car and leaves thinking I'm a freak for not saying anything.

"Emery," I catch her just before we hit the parking lot.

She slowly turns with the dog leash in hand, giving a small smile.

"You remember me," she softly chuckles.

"Yeah well who could forget a face like that," I say before I can stop myself.

You fucking idiot. I think to myself before I see the light pink shade take over her cheeks. I bite my lip subtly to suppress a smile. I look around for a car that could be hers but then notice that this lot is empty.

"Did you walk here?" I furrow my dark brows.

"Yep," she softly nods her head.

"Would you maybe want a ride home? Not to sound like a creep or weird but you know, it's LA and barely light out," why do I need to say shit like that? Come on Calum.

"Sure, that would actually be very nice," she flashes the same smile she did when she was running with the dog.

"My car is this way," I point in the other direction.

"Is the dog a problem?" She looks down at the golden haired dog.

"Not at all, he's a cutie," I let the smile come through on this one. The dog was pretty fucking cute after all.

"Great," she sighs.

I nod and we make our way to the car. The way there was silent, no words were spoken. It wasn't a bad silence, just no need for conversation. We barely knew each other anyway so there wasn't much to talk about. When we get to the car I open up the doors for her and the dog, letting them in the car. I don't spend much time driving out of the lot.
