I'm awoken in the morning by Drew's phone going off. I grumble and look up to see him still fast asleep. I shove him gently.
"Drew your phone," I say trying to wake him up. He still doesn't budge as his phone continues to ring. I glance over to the nightstand where his phone is and see he is getting a phone call. I squint to read the name and make out what looks like Amber. I frown, trying not to think anything of it, and go back to trying to wake him up. I shake him harder this time and say his name a little bit louder directly in his ear. Finally, he wakes up once his phone stops ringing.
"Mornin," He grumbles in his morning voice. I look at him and chuckle, his hair is messy, and his eyes are still half shut.
"Somebody called you like three times," I say nonchalantly, not letting him know I saw the name. He nods and I roll over, no longer touching him at all. He grumbles and I laugh but sit up partially grabbing my phone myself. I check the time and see it is 7:30 a.m. Drew sits up as well grabbing his phone. I study his face as he reads over his missed calls. He looks at me, almost seeming like he's hoping I'm not looking.
"Just my sister, not sure why she called so much I'm going to call her back real quick to make sure everything is okay," he says. I smile and nod, that thought in the back of my mind instantly leaving. He gets out of bed, throwing his clothes back on from the day before, and walks to my bathroom as he calls her back. I decide to get out of bed and go out into the living room to see if Rudy is awake. I open my bedroom door quietly and see Rudy walking around my apartment with a garbage bag cleaning up the mess from last night. I smile as he notices me.
"Good morning," he says as he continues to pick up garbage.
"Morning, you know you don't have to do that right?" I say, walking further into the living room.
"Don't mind, thanks for letting me crash here," he says, and I nod.
"Are you hungry? I could make the three of us some breakfast before set?" I offer and he nods quickly.
"Yes, I'm starving," he says as Drew comes out of my bedroom in a rush.
"Hey thanks for letting me crash here, I need to go help my sister with something before set, so I'll just see you guys there," he says basically running out of my apartment. I smile and wave goodbye but look at Rudy to see him confused.
"What?" I ask once Drew officially leaves the room.
"I didn't know Drew's sister was in town," he says, not seeming to believe him.
"Amber? Yeah, she called him like three times this morning, maybe she just came in?" I ask almost trying to convince myself.
"Did you say Amber?" he asks confused.
"Yeah, I saw her name on his phone this morning when she was calling why do you look so confused?" I ask. He changes his face in a split second and looks at me smiling.
"I'm not, just shocked she came in I guess," he says, trying to convince me but that ship has sailed.
"Amber isn't his sister, is she?" I ask, not fully wanting to know the answer. He frowns and shakes his head no.
"Who is she?" I ask quietly, confused on why Drew had to lie.
"Not my place to tell," he says, and I nod my head. I shake it off and smile.
"Okay, so what do we want for breakfast?" I ask, faking a happy mood, trying not to think about Drew too much and whoever this Amber is.
"Um how about pancakes?" he suggests after thinking for a second. I smile and nod, going to my pantry to get out the mix.
