Chapter 8!

It was now August, it was halfway through the summer holidays. Elizabeth had finally gotten to see A about three weeks ago, he was really excited when he came to visit her with Watari. He told her about America and the states he had visited, he couldn't tell her everything though. Some of the things A had seen and did were confidential, he joked that he'd have to kill her if she learnt anything about his trip to America. He had also brought her a souvenir back with him, he got her a key chain and a box Twinkies. Elizabeth was glad he was back in Winchester again, she had missed having him around.

Elizabeth put some canned food items away in the pantry and closed it's door, she had been shopping with Rose today. Her Aunt Thora was having a short break at a health retreat in the Peak District, her health was improving and she was acting more like her old self again. She missed having her Aunt around the cottage, but she did enjoy spending time with Rose.

Rose was upstairs, she was cleaning the bathroom and getting things ready for when her mistresses returned to the cottage in the next few days. Elizabeth picked an empty box up from the floor and carried it over to the kitchen table, she then placed it on a chair at the table.

" Rose!" Elizabeth yelled before she took a bowl of cheese and onion flavoured crisps from the counter side. " I've finished putting the shopping away! Can I go and watch some television until dinner is ready?! I'm going to have a snack too!"

" Sure my love!" Rose yelled from upstairs. " Just don't ruin your appetite, I want an empty plate today after dinner instead of a half full one!"

" I'm only going to have a bowl of crisps!" Elizabeth yelled.

" Alright, there's no need to shout!" Rose said while she walked into the kitchen with a pile of folded up towels in her arms. " Dinner with be ready in half an hour, I'm making pasta and cheese."

" Sounds good, what kind of pasta?" Elizabeth asked.

" Panna pasta." Rose replied, she placed the folded towels down on the table." Now go and watch television for awhile, I'll call you when it's ready."

" Okay!" Elizabeth smiled.

Elizabeth stuffed some crisps into her mouth while she made her way to the lounge, she took the television remote from the coffee table and sat down on the sofa. It had just turned 5:30pm, it was time for some cartoons. She loved watching cartoons, her favorite cartoons were Tom and Jerry. She turned the television set on and changed it to channel three, she placed the remote next to her on the sofa before she ate some more of her crisps. She watched Elmer Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny with his shootgun, the tricky rabbit always outsmarted the hunter.

" Elizabeth, we've only got Cornish Yarg cheese!" Rose shouted from the kitchen. " Is that okay?"

" Yeah!" Elizabeth replied.

Taking another crisp from her bowl Elizabeth's full attention wandered back towards the television set, but she frowned when a speical newsflash replaced the cartoon. She crossed her legs and watched the news broadcast, she had no idea why the news was on so early. It wasn't even 6pm yet, she took a small bite of her crisp and listened to the news reporter talking.

Good evening, I'm Mark Wright and this is an emergency news broadcast.

" Elizabeth, why is the news on so early?" Rose yelled.

" No idea!" Elizabeth replied, she kept her gaze on the television set. " It's a special broadcast!"

A second body as been found in the town of Martyr Worthy, Winchester. The body was found five hours ago in the cemetery of St Mary's Church by the local Vicar, the local Police Department have no leads at this very moment. The head of the Winchester Police Department as declared that the local community should not leave their homes after 8pm, here's more with our local news reporter Mary West reporting live from outside of Hampshire Constabulary Police Headquarters.
