Months Later
The months had flown by since the horrible events that had happened that night at The Wammy House, the memories from that night had become more clear for Elizabeth. But she was trying to forget about them, she had nightmares for months about The Midnight Slasher after that night's events at the orphanage. Her Aunt Thora had sent her to have some therapy at the local hospital because she was worried about her Great Niece's mental health. Elizabeth hadn't visited the orphanage since then, her Aunt wouldn't allow it. She was allowed to stay in touch with A though, she rang him twice a week and wrote him letters sometimes. She missed him and a few of the other children from The Wammy House, but she understand why her Aunt was keeping her away from the orphanage.
Zipping up her blue duffel bag Elizabeth was getting ready for a trip, she was going visit her Mum's friend Bella in Oxford for a week. She hadn't seen her since she was nine, she was looking forward to seeing her again. They had stayed in touch with each other over the years like they had promised. Bella had a little boy of her own now and Elizabeth was looking forward to meeting him in person. His name was Jamie, she had been sent a few photographs of him over the years that she kept on her bedroom wall near her bed.
" Elizabeth, your taxi is here!" Rose yelled from downstairs. " Are you ready yet?!"
" Just give me a moment!" Elizabeth replied.
" I'll tell the taxi driver five minutes then!" Rose yelled back. " I know what you're like!"
Elizabeth put her red coat on and hung her bag over her shoulder, she needed to hurry because the train left the station at 10:45am. She left her bedroom and hurried down the staircase. Elizabeth gave Rose a hug and a quick kiss on her cheek, she would miss her while she was gone. Rose told Elizabeth ring her the moment she arrived in Oxford, she then made sure the young girl had her train ticket in her bag.
" Are you sure you don't want me to come with you to Oxford?" Rose asked while she buttoned up her coat." I know you want your independence, but you're only thirteen after all..."
" I'll be fine!" Elizabeth said with a sigh. " Stop worrying about me! Aunt Thora said it's fine for me to travel alone. Besides, Bella will be meeting me at the train station in Oxford."
" Do remember where you've arranged to meet her?" Rose asked.
" Yes, I'm meeting Bella by the clock lamp post near the paper shop on the platform." Elizabeth replied. " So stop worrying about me, I'll be fine!"
" I know, but I'll still worry about you until you ring us!" Rose smiled before she straightened out the collar on the Elizabeth's coat." Do you have your purse in your bag too? Your Aunt has put £20 in your purse, there's also some change in your purse in case you need to make a phone call for any reason."
" Yes, I have my purse." Elizabeth replied with a sigh. " I'm all set to go!"
" Miss Havisham!" Rose called. " Elizabeth is ready to leave now!"
Elizabeth looked over her shoulder when she heard a walking cane tapping along the wooden floor of the lounge, she turned around to face the lounge's doorway. Her Aunt walked through the doorway, she tucked some of her hair behind her ear while her Aunt gave her one of her stern expressions before she took a step towards her.
" I hope you have a pleasant train journey to Oxford." Thora said, she held a medium sized white cardboard box towards her with a couple of red coloured envelopes balanced on top it. " This parcel arrived this morning., it's from The Wammy House."
" Thank you." Elizabeth said.
" These cards are for Bella and her family from me, I would like you to thank her on my behalf for letting you stay at her home for the next week." Thora said. " I think this little break from Winchester will do you some good, also will you give her my seasonal greetings and remember to greet her in the correct manner!"
