Narrators POV:
A (h/c) girl hurried down the unfamiliar, crowded corridor.
The bell was supposed to ring 5 minutes from that point and yet, she wasn't even in the correct wing yet. Why? You may ask.
Well…
Turns out the flood that took place a few months prior left the teacher's lounge in her majors wing beyond saving, so temporarily they have to share with the historians.
She had to take some over due paperwork over.
Thanks to her “genuinely kind” new classmates choosing her for the job.The clicks of her heels mixed with the surrounding chatter increased the poor girl's nervousness.
Already, to begin with, she was anything but calm.
Her insecure nature and inferiority issues already made sure of that. She has seen it already quite clear how she's at the bottom compared to her classmates.
All she has seen so far at the nursing major were beautiful people and geniuses that most likely always counted as the top students.
In comparison to them, she was just plain out ordinary.
C's being her dominant grades, mixed with an A and a B here and there.Looks wise…
Oh, dear…
No matter how many times she was told that she's pretty, she couldn't believe it anymore.
But I guess, it really is just the usual outcome of being bullied for every little thing for years on end.Reaching into her pocket, the nervous girl pulled her earphones out and put one in while cranking up the volume.
'I know that I should love myself,
But it's getting kinda hard,
When you're constantly feeling like garbage.
Know I shouldn't hurt myself,
But I can't find a way to lose weight without literally starving.'She grimaced at the lyrics hitting a nerve.
'I wish my body image didn't say that I should be another kinda way'
As the sentence left the singer's mouth, she felt the truthful lyrics jab into her soul.
This was indeed one of her wishes, and yet, no matter how many times she repeated it, it has never come true.
The swarm of students proceeded on continuously shoving her as the bell alerting them of the lessons beginning rung throughout the hallway.
Panic filled her system as the pushing continued.
As she became overwhelmed, her flight or fight response kicked in.She started picking up her pace further and further until the crowd was out of her ass.
Turning corner after corner, she hoped that she's getting closer to her destination.
Biology class still wasn't the most inviting for the girl, but she'd take it a thousand times rather than going back into that madness made up of rushed young adults.
Soon the doorway came into sight.
Slowing her pace a bit, she stopped her music
As much as she would have loved to keep it on, she knew that the teacher will already be giving her the stink eye due to her tardiness, so she decided not to take her chances.
*Knock… knock…*
The sound of her knuckles lightly colliding with the wood felt too loud for her.
