Welcome back!! I hope you liked the past update, here is the continuation! This is one of the longest stories I have written, 2200 words! I hope you enjoy it:)
3 years ago, Shawn's POV (Anthea's brother)
Life during war was horrible to put it simply, I couldn't visit Anthea as much as I wished and my life was usually at the brink of death. Of course, I had agreed to be a part of this war so I couldn't complain, but still, I often found myself regretting the decision... I had no idea how my sister was at home, I had promised my father to always protect her, and now I felt like I was letting him down.
My palms circled around the gun's hilt, my index finger placed lightly on the trigger. I pressed. The sound of the bullet blending with the air made me gasp. I had just killed someone, their blood on my hands. They wouldn't be returning to their family. My eyes welled up with tears, but I blinked them away. I had expected this, I had signed up for this. These people were entering my world and killing my brothers and sisters, I couldn't let them do this. I continued shooting my way out of there, my ears ringing and my nose burning by the metallic smell of blood. I reached the central line, dividing both territories when I suddenly felt a cold object pressed against my neck. My blood went cold, as I was held at gunpoint.
-"Come with us, or your dearest sister gets it. Don't even think about running away or shouting for help." A gruff voice spoke from behind. I turned around slightly, my mind coming up with infinite possibilities to save myself and protect my sister. None of them were possible. I grunted in frustration before walking to the awaited van. It was one of those sketchy vans filled with band posters and spray paint.
-"What the hell do you want from me?" I asked, biting my tongue hold of a series of curses.
-"Well the Perpetuity Stone of course. You have it don't you?" The gruff voice asked in a sickly sweet manner. The Perpetuity Stone, I should have known...
-"The what now?" I asked, trying to sound as lost as possible. The man behind me laughed as if he found humor in torturing innocent souls.
-"Oh cut the crap sweetheart, we knew Dawn Campbell, we knew what he made. Actually, my husband here was his best friend before Dawn made the stone, the rest of course is a story for another time. Now cut the acting and hand in the stone." A new voice exclaimed, her voice was sweet and charming. I assumed it was to lure in her clients. I found myself getting teary-eyed at the mention of my father's name. He was a great father, friend, and scientist. He was very successful around our town, one of the best in the country even. His inventions made our home better, he would make some to help the poor. However, his most astounding invention was the Perpetuity Stone, not many knew about it since my father passed away a few months after finishing it. He had shown it to me before dying; it truly was a remarkable piece.
My father had always been a generous man, he loved to help the citizens of America, and his inventions often focused on serving a better cause. In the summer of 2087, he came up with a brilliant idea of creating a stone that would soon make people immortal, he had sent hours of sweat, blood, and energy making this stone. I basically contained a mixture of different chemicals placed in a tablet-sized stone. The stone had to be mixed with water until dissolved, before drinking the mixture. Before passing away, my father had made one stone and had given me the series of instructions to create another batch.
