Bria's eyes fluttered open as she lay in a ton of rubble. It took her a minute to finally realize what was going on. Panic began to strike her heart as she realized that she was trapped. Her body immediately let out a pulse and flung the rubble off of her. She saw the bodies of dead marines and immediately regretted doing that.
She suddenly saw a green hand reach towards her she took it without hesitation. It was the Master Chief. He pulled her out of the side of the building they just crashed into.
"No survivors but us." Chief told her.
"That was a-" she began to speak but got quickly cut off.
"A UNSC rocket. Yes, I know." He said.
She was shocked that he knew too.
"Why did they hit us?" She asked, still a little shaken.
He looked off into the distance. "I don't know. But what I do know is that we need to continue before it happens again."
"If we walk, won't it be too late by the time we get there?" Bria said as she remembered her days on earth, it used to take days to get to certain states. But that was back then when they didn't have the technology that they have today.
"Hopefully we will find transportation on the way there." Chief replied and looked back towards her. "Any marines left?" he seemed to ask again just to make sure.
Bria looked around at the corpses. "Negative..." she spoke sadly.
They started to walk, but something made Bria stop, almost a pull towards the marines. She looked at them.
"Hey," Chief spoke. "Everything okay? Let's get moving."
She didn't know this strange power inside of her.
"I think, I think I could help them." She looked at the master chief. "It's always better with more people right?"
"Right," Chief spoke. "But there's not much you can do. They've been dead for a while, it's unfortunate but this stuff happens all the time."
Bria sighed. "I know it does, but these people probably had lives and families to go back to." She approached a marine and gently laid her hand on their heart.
She didn't know what to do next, but because of her instinct, she closed her eyes and sent out a pulse.
It hurt like a fire inside of her, but the marine quickly took a sharp breath. Eyes wide open.
"You can revive?" Chief spoke.
Bria laughed because she couldn't believe it. "I can revive!"
The marine looked at her. "What the- what happened?"
Bria helped them up, which they were not so steady on their feet.
"Our pelican crashed." Chief spoke. "But you're okay now."
Bria went to the next marine. The marine she just revived watched in awe as she revived as many marines as she could, even the pilot.
"Listen," Chief spoke loudly. "Our pelican was shot down by one of our own rockets. We made it probably halfway to Washington, but we will continue on foot."
Before he could finish, all of them heard a warthog in the distance.
"Ready up!" A marine shouted. Everyone aimed their weapons.
The weapon pulled up to reveal,
"Cassie!" Bria smiled.
She honked the horn at them. "Get in losers! I can probably pile you all in."
