Chapter 108: The Truth Comes Out (Again)

When the MIFTers came back, they played the music and prepared to light the candle.

"And now it's time to light the Candle of Remembrance in honor of today, David Day, a day we devote to celebrating David. And the very special gift that he left us with, his dazzling, beguiling, and very, very, very, very good hair. So, let's take a moment and admire it," Fritz explained then put the jar in front of the MIFTers.

As they looked at it, they noticed something as the music stopped.

"Something's different," Cutter commented.

"You're right. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's..." Duncan started.

"There's something not right about David's hair," Val finished, making the couple panic.

"Oh, gosh, it's true," Fritz agreed.

"Look at it, the color is way off," Duncan said.

"Like somebody switched it out with somebody else's hair," Cutter added.

"What happened to the hair?" Duncan demanded from Tylor.

Then Roto coughed up the hair, making the MIFTers look at Roto then back at Tylor.

"Fine! Okay. Now before I tell you, Jamie didn't have anything to do with what happened," Tylor said.

The MIFTers nodded and Jamie smiled a little in thanks.

"I admit it. It's not David's hair. Duncan's Roto pet thing ate it, and then, I tried to catch him, but he got sucked into the tube. Then I tried to get some of Roze's hair, but that didn't work. So Jamie and I went to the shredder shaft, where I nearly got killed. I made sure she wasn't near it. Met the ghost of David. I see it now, great guy. I found Roto after that, but he wouldn't hack up the hair. Roze gave me some of hers. Not sure where it came from. That's what's in the jar. It's all because I wanted to be a Jokester, that won't happen, so I was trying to be a good MIFTer, and I blew that too," Tylor explained, sitting down and crossing his arms.

There was a slight silence as Jamie went to Tylor and hugged his neck gently until Cutter spoke up.

"You two went into the shredder shaft?" Cutter asked.

Tylor sighed and stated,  "Duncan's right, I'm the exact opposite of David."

"But David was honest. And you just told the truth. There is nothing more honest than telling the truth. Unless you're lying about telling the truth, which means that the lie is actually the truth, but the truth is a lie. Oh, my goodness, this makes my brain hurt," Fritz went on, holding his head.

"And as for reliable, you found some hair," Val added.

"Ty-Ty, a wise monster once said to me, 'Boondy Bear had no hair, that bare-haired bear.' And I have no idea what that means," Fritz said.

"Maybe it means you're the opposite of the opposite of David," Val replied.

"The sounds about right to me," Jamie smiled, making Tylor return it.

"And besides, you didn't have to go to all that trouble," Val pointed out.

"Yeah, I got a whole bag of Davey's hair. Keep it in a foot locker under the stairs. That guy was a shedder," Cutter told him, pulling up a big bag of hair onto the table.

"Ah. Of course. Of course he was," Tylor commented, wide-eyed.

"And Cutter, I probably shouldn't ask this, but why do you have a whole bag of David's hair in a foot locker?" Jamie asked.

"Don't ask questions you don't want the answer to," Cutter smirked.

"That's our second time we heard that today," Jamie said, making Tylor laugh.

They got some hair, put it in the jar, and placed it where it belonged.

"So you actually saw David?" Jamie asked.

"Yeah, I guess. Sort of," Tylor shrugged.

"See, I knew he was still with us," Val said.

"And I can see why you all liked him so much. He is...just as weird as you guys," Tylor told them.

"Hey," Jamie said teasingly while nudging him, making him smile.

Val chuckled then added,  "You're right, Double T. David was a true MIFTer and it takes one to know one."

"Ain't that the truth," Jamie added.
