Most boyfriends when they leave the house for work kiss the partner on the way out. This wasn't the case for Amy's and Jack's relationship. He slapped her across the face everytime he left, her throbbing cheeks were left wet with tears everytime he left and sometimes when he left, she'd have to pick herself up from the floor.

Today was one of the days where she missed Freddy, it was his twenty fifth birthday and she wasn't even allowed to wish him happy birthday. Just like she wasn't allowed to answer his messages or even read them. Just like she had to block him from every social media platform. She had to make him forget her. Jack was destroying her life. He was taking everyone away from her one by one, starting with Freddy a couple of months ago.

You'd probably tell her to leave him, but it isn't that easy. Jack was a manipulator. Amy had tried several times to leave him but he either guilt tripped her out of it, told her he would change or make her believe she was nothing without him. And Amy believed him.

She barely lived in her house back in Oxford, the house didn't even smell like her any more. That's how much time she spent away and how little she spent there. Amy lived in London with Jack. London had so many faces, and until you take time to get to grips with the emotions and realities of them all, you have no idea who London actually is. From the altitude of Big Ben, from those clockwork hands, every aspect of London is laid bare.

London always was both the wide avenues and the backstreets, those whom wore the finest clothing and those whom wove the thread. Amy had grew up around these people, but she felt like a stranger to every one of them.

Amy had been out with a friend for the majority of the day, Sarah, she'd been helping her pick her wedding dress. It was hard to tell who was more excited about the wedding, Amy or the bride herself. A twinge of jealousy hit Amy every now and then, she'd always hoped she'd get that with Jack. But now she knew it was never going to be the case.

Pavements moved as a great river of humanity rampaged over them, the roads rivers of cars. The buildings that have seen the modern age pass, standing in silent witness, weathered rocks stretching toward grey skies. Here in the capital, in the canvas of life, the art of each face is something to savour.

The rain cascaded down from the sky harshly, it bounced off the streetlights and soaked the ground. The pavement was slippery underfoot and clouds covered the sky making it seem later in the day than it actually was.

Amy was currently walking back 'home' in the rain with her phone to her ear. Jack's voice was blaring into her ear, it was an underestimation to say he was pissed off. Amy quickly walked down the street, her feet were getting wet from the puddles that were dotted along the path.

"Amy?" A familiar voice called to her, a voice she never thought she'd hear in person again. She wasn't even sure if it was actually him or whether her mind was playing tricks on her. She stopped in the middle of the path, Jack's complaints in one ear and the familiar voice in the other, "is it really you?"

Amy turned to face him slowly, her eyes stung as tears threatened to fall as she looked him dead in the eye. Freddy had a similar expression. Amy bit her lip, she wanted to say something but she knew she shouldn't.

"Amy! Amy are you still there?" Jack's voice screamed through the phone.

Amy shook her head and she looked away from him, "yeah, yeah I'm still here."

Freddy watched with a confused expression as he watched, what he still called, his best friend walk away from him in the rain. He wanted to chase after her, but something stopped him. Or someone.

"Hey Freddy, you coming?" Caroline, his girlfriend, asked as she came out the shop. Freddy wiped the expression off of his face and turned to her with a smile and nodded, as they walked away he glanced back. She was no where to be seen.
