After nearly three years of dating, Amy Witty and Jack Maughan have broken up. Sharing the news in a Twitter post made on Friday, July 11, Amy confirmed that the pair had split earlier that month.
Explaining that the terms that the two are on are still yet to be discovered as they've decided to not talk to let things cool off, Amy wrote, "Hi all. In July, @JackMaughan and I decided to part ways. The decision was made as it had just become too toxic, our terms are still undecided as we've decided to not speak to let things cool off. Thank you for allowing us our privacy in this time and I hope you continue to while we figure things out."
In an additional post on her Instagram Stories, Amy acknowledged that there had been rumors regarding a possible split, and they felt it necessary to address the current status of their relationship. "We wanted to set the record straight," she wrote. At the time of writing, Jack has not yet addressed the split on his social media platforms.
The two first met in a coffee shop when Jack accidentally spilled her drink on her and offered to buy her a new one. At first, they had chosen to keep their relationship out of the public eye. "We're keeping it to ourselves, because everything is just so more romantic and real when it's yours and it's private. So we are keeping the details to ourselves, but yeah, we're dating," Amy said in an interview with People at the time.
Despite the initial decision to keep their romantic life private, the two later were quite public in their shows of affection, and often used social media as a means of chronicling their relationship. News of the breakup comes shortly after what would have been the couple's anniversary.
