Freddy had handed his rather tipsy and flustered girlfriend over to a rather eager Kit when they got back and watched with a smile as they danced around each other - she'd even taken off her heels in order to toe step properly and shuffle - and knocked into other bar goers. Several times.
"It's almost midnight," Daisy put her phone down when everyone gathered around the table, "should we head outside?"
Some silently agreed whilst others voiced their agreements but either way they all made their way outside - some taking a moment to down the last remaining dregs of their drink or deciding to take it with them.
The group occupied the edge of the path near the road, congregating together. One of Amy's arms had curled tightly around Freddy's waist while his loosely clung to her's. The crowd on the path started counting down from ten in complete unison in a mixture of languages.
"Five! Four! Three! Two! One!"
As the last number escaped his mouth Freddy pulled Amy towards him and connected their lips - a high pitch noise escaped Amy's mouth in a light-hearted shock. He was a man of traditional activities anyway, why was she so surprised.
"Happy New Year!"
Whilst fireworks were set off and cheers echoed throughout the groups congregated on the path the couple stood smiling in each others warmth. Amy's hand slipped from the bollard next to her before it reached up to tangle in Freddy's hair.
When Freddy pulled away his breath whispered on her face, "happy new year."
"Happy new year."
"Happy new year!" Their friends shouted as they all groups together in a hug around the couple who laughed in the middle and chorused a response.
Amy tilted her lips up to Freddy's ear,"I love you."
Freddy smiled and mouthed back to her, "I love you too."
The next moment made Freddy wish he'd brought one of his camera's with him but at the same time no amount of camera angles or settings could recreate the glimmer on her face as the light of the fireworks reflected in her eyes. He could only take a mental picture and keep it saved in the album locked in his mind.

It was just after two in the morning when the couple stumbled through their door, Amy's heels in his hand. Amy walked straight into the bathroom to wash off her makeup whilst Freddy took his shoes off and put his coat away.
"Do you want a drink?" Freddy shouted slightly from the kitchen.
"Depends what you're offering," Amy joked as she slipped back into the living area and laid across the sofa. She scrunched her nose up as she reached under her back to pull out the lump from under her, that turned out to be Freddy's reading glasses box, and put it on the table.
"Depends what you're wanting."
"I think there's a bottle of lemonade in the fridge," Amy moved to rest her legs on the table instead, "that's if there's still some in there."
"Yeah there is."
"Is it bad that I'm still wide awake despite the time."
Freddy chuckled as he handed her a glass of lemonade, "Amy sweetheart you literally pull all-nighters all the time. I'm not too worried."
Amy laughed, "guilty."
They sat comfortably in silence for a few moments, his hand rested on the skin of her thigh, until Amy's phone went off from the kitchen to which she excused herself to see to. It was her manager Emma reminding her that she was having to fly back to London next week for her brother's wedding.
