"So, what do you think? Pretty incredible, isn't it?"

You look out over the colourful venue with eyes of wonder, unable to even begin to take in the full scene. It's like a feast for the eyes. You don't know where to start.

"It's amazing," you murmur, utterly awestruck.

Ares gives a light laugh, her voice easily audible over the clammer of the forty contestants gathered before you.

The MCC, otherwise known as the Miners and Crafters Championships. A twice-yearly competition that only the best of the best get invited to. You're still at a loss for words on how you got invited to such an anticipated event.

All you've ever been good at is shooting a bow and arrow. Though every time you've mentioned this to your girlfriend, she's always called you a dummy and told you you're better than you think.

She takes your hand now, her golden braid flowing behind her as she guides you down the stone steps and into the heart of the chaos.

It's busier than you'd imagined. But in an organised kind of way.

The Noxcrew are easy to pick out in their matching staff uniforms, the official coordinators of the entire event, lead under the careful guidance of Scott Major, the creator of the games. He's here somewhere, too, amongst the masses. Every now and then you're sure you can see a head of pale blue hair bob into view before it vanishes again.

Ares said she'd introduce you to him if the chance arises, as well as any other contestant that catches your eye. Ares knows everyone here to some degree. It's her friendly nature and bright smile. It draws people in.

Just like how it drew me in. You think with a soft smile, watching the woman's back as she guides you through the crowd. How the hell did I manage to land such an incredible girlfriend like her? She's like a diamond, bright and beautiful. Whereas I'm more of a pebble, small and unassuming, not particularly noteworthy. And if she heard me thinking like this, I know she'd tell me off for not appreciating myself enough.

You're lead to a small hut on the beachfront where a queue stands waiting. It looks like the stall sells fast food, with one of the Noxcrew serving as its vendor.

For a moment you question why you've been brought here first, and then you notice two familiar faces stood to the side of the stall, digging into burgers.

"You two took your time." Is Sam's greeting as he flashes you both a wide smile, his fangs just as intimidating as they had been the first day you'd seen beneath his mask. "We were wondering if we'd have to go off and look for you."

"Were you two kissing~?" Crumb teases slyly, the little calico cat giving you a smug look. For such a small animal it still astounds you how big her balls are. You've never met a cat with such an unfiltered brain. But then again, the only other talking feline you know is Antfrost, and he's an absolute sweetheart.

"Why? Would Crumb like a kiss too?" Ares teases, leaning down to pet the cat between her ears. Crumb only just comes up to your hips, making her one of the shortest contestants in the games. You haven't decided yet if this is an advantage or disadvantage to the team.

Crumb would argue it's an advantage, of course. After all, she's at the perfect shin-bashing level.

"Yessss, give Crumb all the kisses!" She cackles evilly, earning a few amused looks from the contestants lined up for food.

Sam slides his mask back over his mouth, finished eating, and dusts off his hands.

"So, where to first? We have about fifteen minutes before the decision dome opens." He says, turning his brilliant red eyes on you. "Is there anywhere in particular you want to check out, Y/n? It's yours and Crumb's first time here so we should go somewhere you guys want."
