"No no no no." Brian yelled at me.
I just looked at him and grunted. I couldn't stop now, even if I wanted too.
"Soph this baby will not be born on the fucking floor." He cried, picking up his phone.
I closed my eye's, trying to concentrate, trying not to push but oh god another contraction, another uncontrollable urge to push.
"Arghhhhhh." I screamed.
Brian looked at me. He had the phone to his ear and he looked terrified.
"Hello, my wife is having our baby right now on the floor, on the fucking floor." He went quiet, listening. "Well um yeah, she's pushing. Okay, good, Hang on."
He looked at me and put his phone on speaker.
"The ambulance is on it's way. Now Brian is it?"
"Yeah." He squeaked. He was looking at me like he'd never seen me before in his life.
"I need you to look. Can you see anything?"
"Look? Look where?"
"Your wife sir, between her legs."
He looked at me like he was going to cry. Fuck Sophie he mouthed at me.
"Oh god I'm sorry." I told him, leaning back and pulling up the dress I had on.
"Underpants Sophie."
"Remove those."
"Obviously." Brian snapped.
He helped me out of them and just as he did another contraction came and I screamed, making a horrible noise, but I couldn't help it, the pain and urge to push was unbearable.
"Brian look, can you see anything?"
I was doing my best not to push, but I put my chin on my chest and I pushed as hard as I could.
"No, I don't see anything." Brian said, peering between my legs. "FUCK ME I SEE HAIR."
"That's good, that's fine. Sophie honey, your doing fine."
Thank god that contraction had stopped and I leaned my head back, trying to catch my breath.
"Now Brian whether you like it or not your baby is about to be born, so grab something like a towel, get ready, I'll tell you what to do."
"Well where's the fucking ambulance." He screamed, getting up and running from the room. "They should be here."
He ran back in clutching a towel.
"Oh god Soph." He whispered, kneeling back down.
"Brian." I said, closing my eye's. Another contraction was coming. "Another one." I screeched.
"Sophie, push when you need too and Brian you need to help guide your baby's head out."
"Oh christ." Brian muttered, reaching down between my legs.
I wanted to tell him I was so sorry, that I really didn't want to have our baby on the floor but I couldn't, I needed to push instead. I closed my eye's again and pushed with all I had.
"Ohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuck." Brian was muttering.
"Tell me what's happening."
"Uh I have a head, oh fuck it's head."
"Okay good. Sophie you need to stop pushing and Brian I need you to check and make sure the cord is not around your baby's neck."
"Oh where's the ambulance?"
"They're pulling up now. Brian did you check?"
"Oh fuckkkk." I screamed, another contraction.
"There's nothing, nothing there."
"Okay, push Sophie."
They didn't need to tell me twice. I pushed with everything I had and looked down between my legs and watched as Brian guided our baby into this world.
"It's here." Brian screamed, looking at it.
"Okay good. Is your baby breathing?"
Before he could answer the baby let out a god almighty cry which made me cry. I let my breath out, everything was fine.
Suddenly the front door opened and footsteps sounded coming up the stairs. "Look. I told you Sophie. A girl." Brian whispered, holding her so I could look.
She was beautiful.
Gabriella.
