NARRATOR'S POV

"Selene, how are you not mad? I just killed your husband-?"
Claude asked, it's been a few hours ever since he was declared the new Emperor and he was visibly confused on why the Empress was so calm about it as if she knew it would happen

"A husband who abandoned me, harassed me, and abused me? No, why would I care if something happens to him. He was only possessive of me because of my title and my abilities. When he lost interest in me, he just abandoned me and go to other women"
She explained calmly as she took a sip from her favorite Lippe tea

"Plus, my future vision showed me that a young royal blood will die at his reign. I can guess that the royal blood it was talking about was Anastacius"
She spoke up once again, earning an ohhh face from Claude. They were in the Empress garden where rare blue roses were at their sight and beautiful red roses were at the edge of the doors. Selene placed her tea cup down and look straight at Claude mesmerizing jeweled cerulean eyes

"Claude, since you're now the new Emperor, I hope you can help me fix all the mess my deceased husband made around Obelia. So many nobles were complaining about the water damage and trades from the Castivillo Empire. I usually handle most of the work since Anastacius was always busy pleasuring himself with his sluts but I can't handle all of them"
Claude indeed notice how tired his friend looks. No wonder why she never cared about him at all

"Don't worry, I will help you with the problems. Plus, I'm not like that bastard. And I don't need to involve myself in pleasure since I'm not much of a playboy. I'm not like Anastacius, so when you go to work, you can give me some of your documents. I can handle them"
Hearing this, Selene almost teared up for no reason. An emperor must work hard for their empire, with the Empress by his side to help him with the workload. But she knew Claude wasn't saying this as an emperor, but he was talking about it as a friend who wanted to help the other. She grabbed his hand that was covered in blood earlier and grasped it tightly

"Thank you"
Was all she said for Claude to feel a certain pang at his heart.
What was this feeling? He never felt this way when his ex-fiance Penelope Judith was with him. But when he was with Selene, he always felt like butterflies were fluttering in his stomach, but this was a new feeling. He can feel his cheeks redden.
He was very thankful to have Selene in his life. Her presence made his life brighter and the fact that she never left him unlike his brother, his mother, and his fiance. She always give him that beautiful smile he loved to see all the time. And if she weren't here with him, he would've ended up like the former emperor, drowning himself in pleasure to rid his thoughts

"For a good friend that was always by my side and as the Emperor of Obelia, it is only natural for me to help you"
He said as he placed another hand on top hers, making the latter even more grateful

She gave her personal maid, Rosalyn Levonne the documents

"Yes, your majesty"
She responded and took the papers then quickly went to the Emperor's office
Selene sighed and leaned further back to her chair, already tired from signing many documents and also wrote a request letter to the house Callovin and Alpheus that regard to their current matter. She was thankful that Roger decided to help her. He already became the Duke of the Alpheus manor a few months ago. She also needs to strengthen the borders of their Empire since Claude was new from this Emperor duty
