𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑶𝒇 𝑴𝒚 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 (𝙒𝙈𝙈𝘼𝙋)

CHAPTER 24

Empress Selene sat at her throne beside her husband, Claude De Alger Obelia. She stared as people come and go to the room mainly for audiences

But Selene noticed another thing. Other than Diana, Claude has changed as well. He looked pale and looks like he wasn't sleeping very well. She also noticed that he had been experiencing fatigue lately and the imperial doctor had reported that he'd been experiencing headaches almost everytime when she isn't with him. This wasn't a good sign

'I think it's time that I'll confront Diana about her condition...but first"
She glanced at the pale Claude

'I think I need to start with my husband first'

It took a while for the day to turn to night, both the married couple sat together on their bed, with Claude resting his head unto Selene's shoulder

Let me tell you, it was a huge achievement for Selene to get Claude to be honest on how he feels. This man is more stubborn than she is. It took her a couple of convincing talk for Claude to finally let out what he actually feels.. physically

"I've been having...lots and lots of headaches recently... especially when I'm with Lady Diana. It gets worse when she's near me"
Claude explains his foggy mind and also the fact that he feels like someone is controlling him

"What do you mean... controlling you?"
Claude froze at the question she asked. How can he explain it to her..what he did...was something he hated so much that he knows Selene would hate him for it

"Last time...when Lady Diana came to my office..."
His lips quivered from pressure. Should he tell her? But if he tells her, she'll start hating him and their relationship won't be the same anymore

"What happened? Claude, please tell me!"
Selene practically begged for the truth. So much is going on inside the palace walls and no one had noticed it one bit. She tells him that it's alright and she won't get mad at what he will say

It took a moment until he finally opened his mouth

"I...fell unconscious...and the next thing I know...I..."
Selene looked at his face of regret...she knows that the situation that time was bad...but how bad is it?

"I woke up. Naked in bed beside her"
Selene let out a loud gasp, covering her mouth. Automatic tears went down her face. So...what the man told me at my dream. About Diana dying in childbirth...the child...is Claude's

"How...could you-"

"Let me explain Selene. Give me chance to talk!"
Claude knew it would be too late If he doesn't explain what truly happened while Selene was bewildered

"Listen, like I told you, I felt like I was controlled while I was unconscious and when I woke up, I ended up like that"
Controlled?

"What do you mean? Are you saying that someone was controlling you or forcing your body to sleep with her?"
Claude cod only answer with a nod, hoping that she would believe him. Selene goes silent

'...I knew it...she now hates me. I mean, the truth I've spoken looks more like a lie to her obviously-'
She didn't give him any time to react before he noticed the soft lips connected to his. His eyes widened

"I know. That small fog of darkness I see in you right now...it's what controlled you, isn't it?"
She believed him?

"You...believe me Selene?"

"No matter what you say or no matter what you do, I'm still your wife..and you're still my husband. I will always take your side and always place my belief in you"
Selene showed him her lovely smile that he yearned to protect ever since

Claude felt the atmosphere change in such a short amount of time. But still, he was glad she believed him and trusted him no matter how big the situation was. Pulling his beloved for a hug, he gently held her stomach as well..soon...he'll be a father..he'll have a child whose blood he shared with Selene. The proof of their intimacy and love for each other

"Selene...thank you...thank you for believing in me"

He spoke such words that Selene half expected. Yet she was glad. She knows that Claude would never cheat on her nor abandon her heart. Claude had experienced a rough childhood and because of that, he tends to hold unto the people who only cared about him. Betraying them or letting them lose their trust on him is something he will never do, especially when it comes to her...his wife that he vowed to protect

They shared a passionate kiss for the night as they laid in each other's arms

It was midnight, Claude was deep asleep while this time, Selene was the one that's wide awake, her thoughts still lingers in her mind that she couldn't rest about

Now that Selene knows that Claude has been affected by black magic, the question is...who was affecting him with it?

'Black magic might be powerful, but it is extremely dangerous and it can cause alot of bad consequences. Especially if you are willing to be in contact with it. Claude on the other hand, was forced to inject black magic unto his body...I guess the reason why he isn't going haywire for now is because of the divine mana I used to shield him when I kissed him earlier'
She wonders who might it be?

But now that she realizes...Diana?

She was in the office with him when he got affected and when he slept with her, she didn't complain or tried to stop him. Because if she did, the servants nearby would hear or Claude would be awakened by the screams of Diana

It can't be-

Selene felt a tingle on her spine. Diana, her good friend despite being someone who should be her enemy because of their positions as a wife and a mistress. Her strange aura and actions that were unfamiliar...it's as if...she changed because of something..or someone

Still, she's glad Claude didn't asked at what she meant by seeing the darkness in him just now...or else it would be a long night of explaination. But back to Diana, it can be possible

But how can she learn black magic in such a short amount of time?
That's what makes her doubt

I guess she'll have to confront her soon after she finally thinks about it...

Yazz! This is the second to the last chapter! The next chapter is the final one...and I can expect will also be one of the longest ones I guess
