"Hey daddy, why does mommy only visit us every once a month? And also only in midnight to early morning?"
The father was quiet, not sure how to explain. But a smile was on his face as he caresses his child's hair
"You'll find out one day my dear...one day...when the time is right"

"Where are you going?"
"To the Ruby Palace, why?"
Claude looked at her, shocked at the response
"But isn't that the place where-"
"Where Diana lives? Yes and? I promised her that we would have tea time together"
She explained briefly before getting out of their bedroom to go to the Ruby Palace
Unfortunately, there are always some people who doesn't know what a quiet conversation means
"Hey have you heard? The Empress is currently getting along with the whore whore who seduced His Majesty?"
A maid from the sidelines told her friend beside her
"Really?! First she seduces the Emperor and now she dares to get close to the Empress?!"
"I know right! What a slut and attention seeker! She really is so greedy for power despite being a commoner"
"She doesn't know her place"
Even if Selene ignores those words, she couldn't help but feel contented...
'Why am I feeling...relief...relief and happy that they're badmouthing her... backstabbing her...why?
The unknown feeling that's growing in her veins was concerning, but she paid no mind to it as she continues her stroll towards the Ruby Palace

"Lady Diana! The Empress is here!"
A random maid yelled while barging in to the dancer's room. Diana dropped the brush she held on and stood up to walk fast in the entrance of the Ruby Palace
"Empress!"

"This place...isn't so bad"
"Is it your first time here in the Ruby Palace, Empress?"
Diana asked in curiosity. Selene held her chin up in thought before nodding
"I've visited this place once..but I couldn't really savor the view as to how many concubines were in this Palace when I first visited"
She can clearly remember the concubines Anastacius had in the Ruby Palace. And when they saw her, some looked at her in admiration while some...looked proud that the Anastacius' attention was on them. Diana, who quickly remembered the amount of concubine's during the reign of Anastacius, held her head down upon realizing
'I shouldn't have said that...I heard that the former emperor neglected the empress and slept with ALOT of his concubines...sometimes sleep with them in front of the empress. I know that Emperors often have concubines and it was supposed to be normal. But the Empress Selene'
Her face contorted in guilt and was about to kneel down to apologize but
"Don't apologize. I don't like people who apologize for everything they do, even if it's not their fault"
Selene narrowed her eyes as she stared at Diana's shaken figure. She know she feels guilty...guilty of making her go back to those... unpleasant memories. But honestly, anyone who is smart enough should've been suspicious that she didn't cry nor throw any signs of tantrums or depression when the emperor had slept with lots of women. They would've known that she would cry just like how SHE cried when Roger slept with Elianna
"I'm glad though...that no one noticed the replacement"
Her eyes darkens...no...her soul began to darken. By. Something
What is this feeling? It's kind of annoying to keep feeling these dark emotions that I have no knowledge of...maybe I should ask THEM about it
And so...their tea time continues and eventually ended....

"Oh? So that's what you've been feeling..hahaha! And who would've thought that the angelic Selene De Alger Obelia...would be affected—"
They continued their explanation, laughing off at how their beloved empress got affected by THAT
Selene looked horrified while shocked as well, her face paler than ever and her knees weakened...she doesn't have enough time..if she doesn't go with the experiment correctly..everything will turn out for the worst
"What should I do? I'm going crazy of what's going to happen! And I can't see the future right now because I already did a few months ago..I can't wait another year to see what will happen!"
Tears began to appear on her face...she sobbed in despair as she went down on her knees..only for them to catch her before the fall and embrace her, a grin plastered on their face as they watched her weep in their arms
"Relax, we had our deal remember? I help you out and then you return the favor"
Selene nodded, still lost in her thoughts scurrying wanderesly on her mind, darkening it further
'Just as planned'

"What do you mean, something feels off about Selene?"
Travis held his head up to face his right-hand man
"Indeed, when I feel that odd feeling...it was the same feeling that I felt...felt when I first met Lady Marian-"
A sound of glass breaking was heard, the knight flinched. Travis turned to his bloodied hand, blood dripping down continuously and some shards of glass still remains on the open wound. He chuckled out a heartless laugh like a maniac, the bloodied hand that was now on his face began to drip from his forehead to his chin
"It looks like...they have consumed her"
And here he was already comfortable with the warmth given by Selene. If she ever dies..well...is it his problem
"The only person I have in my heart is Isabelle, if she ever dies because of that...well too bad. She's just a replacement of Isabelle anyway. The only reason why I want her warmth is because it's similar to Isabelle"
His grin widened
He knows...he knows...

"Selene, are you alright? You've been..acting weird lately?"
Claude asked as he leaned on the embrace he gave her. Her eyes dull, her skin paler than before, yet, she changes
"Hm? What are you talking about, dear? I'm fine. It's probably just the hormones"
She smiled gently and turned to face his direction. She cupped his cheek and kissed him softly on the lips..He sighed and kisses back
'This isn't the Selene I know...Selene...what's happening to you?'
