Alexandria Lennon
I don't know how I was able to sleep last night.
Joker had carried me back to my room.
He had killed all the Nightmares that were on the grand staircase and the corridor. He tucked me in bed and told me not to worry and to sleep tight.
He promised to stay guard outside my door.
I knew he did as he promised as I am still safe right now.
I looked at my door nervously. I was still horrified by what happened last night.
I was afraid of what I was gonna see once I opened the door.
'But I can't just stay here. Not in this room, not in this reverie.'
I gathered all the courage I had left and slowly opened the door. I was preparing for the worst but once I've seen what's outside, I was surprised.
But anxiety started to take over me like wildfire.
Everything was back to normal. No nightmares lying dead on the floor, no blood everywhere, no nothing.
But what scared me is, there was also no Joker in front of my door. I quickly got out of my room and looked around the corridor.
'Maybe he's just in the living room. He's definitely in the living room. Where else could he be?'
I tried to calm myself down. I slowly went over to the living room, but my heart dropped when I found it empty.
HE'S NOT HERE!
I started breathing heavily and searched for Joker around the mansion. I was still terrified as I roamed the mansion to look for him.
After some time, I knew I was lost.
Sweat started trickling down my forehead and my breath was getting heavier and heavier. I had to get support from the wall.
'Where the hell is he?!'
Horrid thoughts started feeling my head. I was scared.
"Are you ok, Alexandria?"
I quickly turned around when I heard the voice I was dying to hear. I heaved a sigh of relief.
'Thank god.'
I almost run to hug him but I stopped myself. I closed my eyes for a moment and collected myself before I walked over to him.
"Yes. I'm fine. I was just lost." I lied. I eyed him from head to toe to check for any injuries and fortunately, I didn't spot any. I looked up again to meet his eyes, "Does the offer still stand? I could use some help getting around the place."
His face instantly beamed, "Really? You are actually willing? I mean that's great! We can get started right away."
He was so excited that I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. I was surprised when he suddenly put my arm around his but I just let it go.
He was talking so eagerly about the mansion as we go around from room to room. I held on tighter to him as we go around the unfamiliar rooms.
I still haven't recovered from last night but I don't know how he could act like it was nothing. He must be so used to it.
He must've noticed that I was scared because he gently patted my hand that was holding his arm a little too tightly. I looked up to him and he just gave me a reassuring smile and the worry that was lingering in my mind instantly dissipated.
