Alexandra Lennon
"There you are, my love!"
I looked around to see if he was talking to somebody else but there's only me here.
I stood up properly and met the man's eyes.
'He was one of the reasons I couldn't find an exit! He was all over the mansion looking for something-'
'NO WAY! IS HE MY KIDNAPPER?!'
He was smiling from ear to ear while approaching me.
"I see you've finally decided to show your face, my lady." He said with a smile.
By the looks of him, he must be the owner of the mansion.
He's dressed in an old-fashioned suit. An expensive-looking old-fashioned suit.
"I was getting tired looking for you." He added with a gentle voice.
Now that he's standing in front of me, he somehow looks familiar-
'SIR CLAUDIUS?!...... What's he doing here?'
Sir Claudius Bancroft is a teacher at my school. DID HE ACTUALLY PLAN ALL OF THIS?!
If he did, then he is more dangerous than I thought.
'Wait-'
'No... This isn't Sir Claudius. Sir Claudius would never wear purple contact lenses as this man has and he wouldn't dress so extravagantly like that.'
'Seriously. What's with the monocle and the cane and the cape?'
'And he certainly wouldn't address me as 'my lady' and 'my love'. Plus if he were to stage all this, he would have done so in a much more efficient manner.
Just what is happening?! WHERE AM I?!
I can feel panic building up inside of me and my breathing started to get heavy.
"You look pale and exhausted, my love. Perhaps you would consider going back to your room." He said in a worried tone.
He tried to get closer to assist me but I promptly raised my hand to stop him.
"My love. Please, allow me to escort you-"
Before he could even finish, my knees were already getting weak and I could feel my head on the floor.
"MY LADY!-"
I blacked out.
-
I slowly woke up and a beautiful, lavender-themed room was the first thing I saw.
'So after 40 minutes of pointless running, I end back in the room where I started.'
I can't believe this.
I, Alexandria Lennon, is lost. I used to be so good with directions that I can remember all the shortcuts and routes to every cheap store and bargain sales even after ONE TRIP.
I shut my eyes close in annoyance.
"This place must be cursed." I mumbled to myself.
"Hello! Sorry for keeping you waiting for so long!"
I haven't finished collecting my thoughts when a cheery and energetic voice suddenly filled the room.
I instantly sat down and looked at where the voice came from.
The voice was so bubbly that I swore I could've mistaken him for a boy.
But there was a handsome, tall guy standing by the door.
And like the man before him, he looked much more peculiar. His right hand and leg were a glitch.
"...and who might you be?" I asked him. I tried to sound polite but instead, it came out as snarky.
But I don't think he minded my snarky tone as he just smiled cheerfully and spoke, "Ah. Right. How rude of me. I suppose I should introduce myself first?"
I didn't answer him so he just cleared his throat and continued,
"I am Joker, servant of the Prince of the Broken Throne. I am here to make your stay here as comfortable as possible as well as answer any question you may have."
He introduced himself with a smile. His name suited him perfectly, he looked like he went straight out of a circus with that bright red suit and hat plus the floating card on his left hand.
But I couldn't afford to match his high spirit and excitement.
"Then tell me how to get out of this place. I have school and many part-time jobs that I can't AFFORD to miss!" I couldn't hide my annoyance.
His downcast face almost made me felt sorry for lashing out at him.
"But why would you want to leave this place? This is a world created purely on your dreams and preference. I am pretty sure you don't need a diploma or money here. And if you ever need anything, you can just ask me to go get it for you." He explained to me as if I was still out of my mind.
'What the hell are you talking about?'
I just looked at him oddly but he only gave me a look of sympathy.
"I know this seems daunting at first, but I'm sure that in time you will come to love it here."
I can't believe the amount of certainty in his voice.
'What do you even know about what I like?'
