Alexandria Lennon

"A Nightmare Surge."

I gave him a puzzled look. 'A- A Nightmare surge?'

I knew it was gonna be way horrible than it sounds but I still wished that it wouldn't be that bad.

But as I looked at the blue-haired kid in front of me, I still hadn't heard anything but I was already feeling hurt and betrayed.

"A-a nightmare surge?" I asked incredulously. "What the hell's a nightmare surge?!" I asked again but this time I couldn't stop myself from shouting.

I was breathing heavily as I waited for his answer.

"I-it's what happens in a reverie where the reverie dweller's mind unconsciously becomes very unstable." He explained in a quiet voice. I thought that was all but he added, "And yours, it happens every ten days after you came in your reverie."

"And you knew this?" I asked him.

He nodded. I went silent for a moment. I was feeling angry but I tried to calm myself and thought of a way to solve this.

"Knives! I'll buy your knives." I told him but he just slowly shook his head, "You can't. You can't get buy anything with your time until tomorrow. After the nightmare surge."

I was slowly feeling betrayed. I was making up reasons for him for why he failed to inform me of this.

Because I trusted him.

"T-then can you just keep me safe here?" I asked him shamelessly. He shook his head once again and I was starting to feel hopeless.

"I can't. I and all your subjects will disappear not long enough." He explained. "Because of the nightmare surge, your mind won't be able to sustain the stable things it has created and I won't be able to stay here because I'm not from here, anyway."

The things he was saying weren't making a single sense to me.

But then it daunted me. I wasn't friends or anything with anyone in here.

No one genuinely cares about me here but me. I'm on my own.

But the question is WHY DID I EVER TRUST HIM?!

Why did I ever believe I could trust anyone in this place?!

I just realized once again that this brat only cares about his amusement.

'This must've been the perfect show for him. Poor, poor Alexandria. Gullible and naive.'

"Right. You're not from here. You're just here to entertain yourself, right?" I said while laughing but tears started to stream down my face. I quickly wiped it off.

I tried to stop myself from crying by laughing but tears, THIS GODDAMN TEARS JUST WON'T STOP!

"But, Alexandria. Remember what I told you yesterday. Someone you trust. Is there someone you trust among your subjects? If you truly trust that person, he wouldn't disappear and might be able to help you get through the nightmare sur-" I cut him off by laughing loudly.

"Are you kidding?! Does it look like I could trust someone from this place?!" I asked him angrily while forcing a laugh.

'I just realized I can't trust anyone from this place! And then you're telling me that?!'

This kid must be having the entertainment of his lifetime!

I laughed out loud again and looked at him incredulously.
