I went to the attic as soon as I woke up and I tried unlocking the chains on White's wings.

I have been pick-locking the lock for a few hours now and my hands are so sweaty.

'This is a fraud!'

"I don't think it's working." White told me.

I groaned in frustration and threw the hairclip across the room.

I pulled the blade he gave me and prepared to break the chain, "Brace yourself, White. I'm gonna break this open!"

White did as I say and I tried to chop the chain with all my strength!

The clash of the two steel resonated a sharp, dull clang.

The blade broke and shattered two pieces and I saw a shard hit his elbow!

"Are you okay?!" I worriedly asked White.

I checked his elbow that got hit by the shard of the blade but luckily he didn't have any wounds besides the ones he got yesterday.

'That's weird. I clearly saw the shard hitting his skin...'

"Are you hurt?" He asked me instead.

I met his worried ruby eyes and shook my head.

I cleaned up the shards that were on the floor and looked at the chains in frustration.

"I hope you don't mind me asking but why are you so desperate to go back to the sky?" I asked him curiously.

White looked disappointed, "...I...I just have to go. It is only natural and it should have happened a long time ago."

I realized that my question sounded like I'm going back on my words so I quickly assured him, "Then we better find a way to go back to the sky."

White's ruby eyes looked at me hopefully and I smiled at him reassuringly.

'I wanna bit my tongue off!'

I keep talking big when the truth is I have no idea how to set him free.

Besides the chains, there's also the mansion to worry about.

"What do you mean by saying the house won't let you go?"

"It means as I said it. After all those years, the house still isn't ready to let me go." White answered my question.

He said it like the house is some kind of person clinging onto him.

I looked at the window he slammed himself to yesterday. I looked at it angrily and I asked him absent-mindedly, "Do you have any idea how I could break that stupid window?"

"You saw my attempts last time. They weren't very successful."

'Right. That was a stupid question.'

I took a deep breath and racked my brain for solutions.

"How about the keys? Do you have any idea where it is?" I asked him instead.

He shook his head and answered, "I don't know but since you are the owner of the house, I am sure that you would have a better chance of finding it than I do."

I nodded and stood up to leave.

"If that's the case, I'll try looking around the mansion."

White just nodded at me and I left the attic.

I spent hours and hours getting lost around the mansion looking for a key that could be non-existent.

Luckily, I didn't come across any nightmares.

But the nightmares were the least of my worries now but I still have the neon-colored butcher knife Joker gave me just to be safe.

I haven't seen Joker for a while now but I'm not yet ready to see him or the Duke for that matter.

Right now, I'm focusing on freeing White.

I went back to my room after I couldn't find anything.

I got really tired so I decided to call it a day and rest.
