3rd Person
(Four Years Later)
A 22-year-old girl, named Alexandria Lennon made her way to the hospital.
She was a beautiful young lady with long brown hair and honey-colored eyes.
She entered the room of a 28-year-old man named Shaw Sokolov who had fallen into a coma 5 years ago due to a car accident.
It was only 2 years ago that Alexandria remembered her childhood sweetheart who she had forgotten because of high fever and emotional stress when she was younger.
Alexandria quickly searched for him after remembering everything. It took her quite some time before she found out where hospital Shaw was admitted.
"Here to visit, Mr. Sokolov again, Miss Lennon?" Asked the nurse with the short black hair that she had gotten close with after visiting Shaw for almost 2 years.
Alexandria smiled and nodded, "Yes, how is he today?"
"Oh, same as always. Normal body temperature, normal heart rate, normal BP. But we still have no idea when he'll wake up from his coma. Maybe he's waiting for a magical kiss." The nurse teased and winked.
Alexandria chuckled and said, "I've actually done that. It felt like kissing a statue."
The nurse chuckled at what Alexandria said.
She started to unload her paper bag that contained a bouquet of roses and white chocolates.
"I've brought white chocolates, do you want some?" She offered the nurse.
The nurse nodded and they both sat on the couch that was on the other side of the white hospital room.
They both ate the white chocolates in silence when the nurse suddenly spoke, "You know he's most likely to never wake up right? Are you still gonna wait for him?"
"If his mother doesn't find a way to kill me yet, then yes. I will wait for him until the day I die," Alexandria answered as if it was the most obvious thing.
The nurse looked at her in admiration for it was very rare to find such commitment like that nowadays.
The nurse only chuckled and said, "Your answer still hasn't changed! Poor Doctor Ivo will be sad!"
The nurse was pertaining to the Doctor that has been captivated by Alexandria's beauty.
Alexandria only chuckled and shook his head.
After a few more chit-chats, the nurse excused herself and leave.
Alexandria sat down on the chair that was near Shaw's bed and held his hand.
"It's me and you again, Shaw," Alexandria said with a smile. She looked at Shaw's sleeping face as if waiting for a response before continuing, "You're as talkative as always. But I'm not gonna let you ruin my mood! Because I have some good news to tell you!"
After two years, Alexandria had finally brought herself to get used to Shaw's situation. Though not instantly, she has learned to enjoy and get used to their one-sided conversations.
"I've finally saved enough money for university. Though it will be a little hard considering I still need to work, take care of my mother and visit you but it's a good start isn't it?" She asked as if Shaw could hear her.
"I told you there was hope but you didn't believe me! Well, now I've proved you wrong! So enjoy your dream world while I embrace my bright future without you!" She cheekily teased Shaw.
She was waiting for him to react like he always did when they were kids but his eyes only remained close.
She bitterly smiled and sighed, "Well, that's all for my weekly report. I am going to put the roses in the vase now."
Alexandria stood up from her seat and arranged the bouquet of roses she brought for Shaw in the vase. As she fixed the flowers, she reminisced everything that had happened in the past 5 years.
It has been 4 years since she woke up from that dream and 2 years since she started visiting Shaw in real life. And just like Shaw said, her problems didn't magically go away the moment she woke up.
Due to financial problems and insufficient grades for a scholarship, she didn't manage to go to university after graduating high school.
It wounded her pride to have to serve her former classmates coffee while they discussed their school works. It almost made her take up her teacher's offer.
It was only 2 years ago that she remembered everything again and she decided to keep a diary just in case she ever forgets again. It didn't go well during her first visits with Shaw because it either ended with her shouting at Shaw to stop being a coward and wake up or her shaking Shaw so that he would wake up.
Alexandria had a hard time accepting things and what she did only resulted in Shaw's mother's fury and the hospital's staff disapproval.
But as time passes by, the more Alexandria realized how lucky she is to have Shaw by her side. Since then, she had been content with the stolen kisses and the one-sided conversations with Shaw.
Unlike the people who had their loved ones pass away, Alexandria felt that when was incredibly lucky to have Shaw alive.
Alexandria has now grown into a mature young lady who still has hopes and dreams in the future but no longer despair when things do not go as she planned. She had accepted that this is life and once she did the world has ceased to be an intimidating place.
"So Shaw, if you wake up, I will be very happy and if you don't that's fine too. Because I know that both the good and bad don't last forever...
And simply being with you is enough for my happy ending."
Alexandria had learned to be happily content with what she has.
