For the past four years the Bakugous' phone bill had been plagued by an invisible line.

An unknown caller, traipsing unknown words through the plastic of the house phone.

An unknown listener leaning against the kitchen counter, one shin crossed over the other, one hand twisting the pearls around their neck, focusing on the frays on the hem of their cardigan.

This little escapade escaping the notice of everyone else.

For the past four years, a terrible thing had been happening in the safety of her own home.

While dinner simmered on the stove, and the childhood pictures taped to the cupboards stared down at her- innocent, ruby eyes watching a whole person get infected- something detrimental was making a woman weak.

An unknown evil seeped into the house through the device nailed to the wall, like an upside down cross the telephone haunted every crevice of her mind.

Yet she always picked the call up with a smile.

For the past four years, a mother had been trying to protect her flesh & blood, only to tear herself away from him in every dimension.

She was no mother, but someone who cared, at least, to take on this great burden.

And after every call she'd say -

"Leave my boy alone-"

Kurutta placed the phone down, allowing the bulky head to slot into its holder. A satisfied smirk eclipsed her, shaking a box of cigarettes one came loose.

Snapping her fingers, several arms flashed out, holding lighters aflame to gauge praise from their boss. Fire tickled the end of the cigarette as she inhaled and released a puff- smoke escaping the gaps in her crooked, yellowing teeth.

"Should you really be smoking, ma'am?" One of her loyal subjects asked, with one steely look from her they found themselves thrown from the height of the building.

Her unhealthy habit prohibited her from laughing at the distant scream, but still she chortled while getting comfortable in her chair, flicking on the small, box tv on the wall.

The U.A sports festival; filmed live for the worried grandparents, the little kids lying on their bellies with a crayon dangling between their chubby fingers, the ones who never made it to hero school, and the ones who never wanted heroes to exist.

Bakugou M/n had finished an embarrassing round of letting some pink haired mongrel show him off in many arrays of gear.
Yet when another minion opened their mouth to bring up concern on the matter, she lit another cigarette.

She knew, from the look on his face, he had something up his sleeve.
For she had trained this face, hardened it, made it older and unbreakable.

"You know what I love to remember?" The old commissioner rasped.

Her workers' heads perked up, gulps and terrified eyes willing her to go on.

"That even with my quirk, I've only used it once on him, and he's done the rest. With his mother, though-" she laughed and waved smoke out of her face, "that silly cow drinks in every word."

"Well," the door to her office slammed open, "you always did have a way with words, madame."

She signalled for everyone to leave apart form the newcomer.

"Keigo." She smiled. The red-winged hero smiled and bent down to kiss both her cheeks politely. "What brings you here?"

"Oh, ya'know," he shrugged, shifting foot to foot, "just thought I'd bring a little gift."
