One Of Us

Nobody's p.o.v

Nix had woken up sometime later and got up to go get something to eat. They bumped into some of the others and had conversations while eating a sandwich. Once they were done eating, they took a walk around their new home to get more familiar with the place. While exploring, they bumped into Nina who looked at Nix and smiled.
"There's my little prodigy! How's the plan working out?" She asked.
"Ah...I-I don't wanna do this anymore.." They mumbled.
"You have no choice~! Or else Vex will mysteriously disappear~" she giggled.
"Please don't.." Nix mumbled, looking down.
"Then go through with it and neither of you get hurt!" She said before walking away.
Nix got frustrated and anxious. What were they going to do? They knew clockwork was gonna help but they couldn't help but feel so useless in the situation.
While they were lost in their thoughts, Jeff and Ben saw Nix and went to them.
"Hey kid" Jeff said.
Nix snapped out of it and looked up at them. "Ah- hi.." They said.
"We have a surprise for you" he said.
Nix tilted their head. "What is it?" They asked.
Ben smiled "one, we're adopting you as our own! So you'll be our child!" He said.
Nix perked up a bit. "Really? You mean it?" Nix asked.
Ben nodded. "Of course! You do need parents after all to guide you through this" he said. "Second, we're taking you on a mission with us!" He said.
"Ah- to kill people, right?" Nix asked.
Jeff nodded. "Don't get too worked up about it, we usually target assholes like your mom." He said. "Or anybody we know who's working with somebody evil we know." He explained.
Nix nodded. "Okay.." They said.
"First, you have to choose your weapon." Ben said.
"Alright, where would I get one?" Nix asked.
"Follow us" Jeff said.
The two lead Nix to the armory of the mansion.
"Everything we have is in here." Ben said. "You can take your pick. Make sure you're able to use what you choose."
Nix nodded and looked around for a bit. There were many weapons there. But out of all of them, Nix took a liking to the hatchets.
"Ohh, nice pick." Ben said. "Hopefully Toby won't be too mad you kinds chose his weapon-" he said.
"So..you'll teach me how to use them?" Nix asked.
Jeff nodded. "Yup! As long as they aren't too heavy for you."
Nix picked up one of the hatchets to feel the weight of it. Luckily, it wasn't to heavy. "It's not too heavy" Nix said.
Ben smiled. "Good! Before we go out, we can train you for a bit!" He said.
With that, the two helped Nix train with their new weapon. Of course, they were skeptical about it, not wanting to mess up. But of course, there were a few mess-ups and a little difficulty. Nix was scared Jeff and Ben would get mad but all the two did were reassure them by saying "no worries, you're doing good!" and "it's a bit rough but of course, you're new at this, don't beat yourself up about it." After some training and getting used to the hatchets, they fought against Jeff. They were a little hesitant, not wanting to hurt him but once reassured, they got less hesitant.
This training went on for quite awhile. It lasted about two hours.
Once they were done, Ben smiled. "You did so good for your first fighting session! We'll teach you to be sneakier later but as long as you can keep quiet and tip-toe, you should be somewhat ready for missions." He said, ruffling Nix's hair.
Nix smiled. "I'll admit...it is a bit scary" they said.
"It's always scary at first kid. Trust me, you'll get over the feeling after awhile." Jeff said. "With that said, are you ready to go on your first mission?" He asked
Nix nodded. "Mhm!"
He smiled "great! Let's go get ready and then we can leave. Obviously, this will be a messy process so try to choose something you don't really care about and put it on" he said.
Nix nodded. "Okay! I'll be back!" They said, leaving the hatchets behind and quickly going to change into something more suitable.
Ben smiled. "I think they'll make a great addition here. They're already perfect for us." He said.
Jeff nodded and kissed his head. "I agree, they'll be happier here with two loving parents" he said.
"Let's go get ready too, we need to make sure we're well prepared" he said.
Jeff nodded. "Meet you in the living room after?" He asked.
Ben nodded. "Yup!" He said.
With that the two split off to get ready to leave.
Once they were all ready, they left. Jeff and Ben already had a target picked out. It was a house with five people inside. They took Nix to the house which took a little bit. Once they did, they peeked through the window to see three people inside that room. Ben looked at nix. "We'll get the first three as a demonstration. Then you can get the other two, alright?" He whispered.
Nix nodded, looking back through the window. "But..they look like a happy family." Nix said.
"Kid, this family is nowhere near happy. The dad's a drug abuser, the mother is passed out on the couch with alcohol and the teenager is an animal abuser. We've watched them for a long time." Jeff whispered.
Nix nodded a bit.
"You stay here, kay? Me and Ben will go inside first." He said.
"Alright" They said.
With that, Ben and Jeff snuck inside the house quietly and made their way towards the three. They did what they did best and murdered the first three. Nix watched them through the window, nervous about how they were going to go about this. What would happen if they got caught? What if their targets scream? What if they end up getting hurt because of them? Nix didn't want these things to happen. But, they kept their cool and went inside once it was safe enough to go.
"The other two are upstairs. We'll stay right behind you, okay?" Jeff said.
Nix nodded. "Ah..d-do I just swing at them?" They asked.
"That's how a hatchet works" he said, ruffling their hair. "Don't worry kid, you'll do great." He said.
Ben nodded. "And in case anything goes wrong, we'll be right behind you" he said with a smile.
Nix smiled back and made their way upstairs quietly, Jeff and Ben following close behind. Nix tried to avoid the creaking of the floor boards as they made their way in the room with the twins. Nix looked back at them and the lovebirds gave them a thumbs up. Nix carefully made their way to one of the beds and stared at the sleeping twin hesitantly. 'What if I mess this up? What if they aren't all that bad..?' They thought. They cleared their head and took a deep breath. 'I..just have to trust them..' They thought. They lifted the hatchet and took the girl's head clean off. The fresh blood splattered on Nix, staining their skin and clothes in the crimson liquid. It wasn't as bad as they thought. They enjoyed the warm feeling of the fresh blood on them, that adrenaline going through their veins. They made their way to the second bed, this time going for the leg first. The boy's eyes jolting open and he screamed. "WH-WHO ARE YOU?!" he cried. "please don't hurt me! I haven't done anything bad! I promise!" He sobbed.
"..You're only sorry because you got caught...and papa said we need to get rid of people like you." They said darkly. They took another swing, taking the boy's head off. Once again, Nix was covered in the blood of the twins.
The two came in, Ben happily hugging his child. "Well done! You've done so great my little sunshine!" Ben said happily.
Jeff nodded in agreement. "You did well! We're proud of you" he said.
"Ah..thank you.." Nix said. "Ah..the blood isn't coming out of these clothes, is it?" They asked.
"Yeah, sorry. But we can just wash them when we get back and you can reuse them for your next targets." Jeff said.
Ben nodded. "Let's get home and celebrate your first killing!" He said, smiling.
Nix nodded, smiling. "Alright." They said.
They all made their way back to the mansion, the police arriving a few moments after they left. The investigation was no good, making it a successful night of murder.
They made it back and cleaned themselves up before watching movies and eating cake in celebration of the new member.
