Chapter 4: A Different Side Of Mel, And The Long Ride to Buenos Aires

The following day, Xena and Gabrielle sit on the couch with their cups of coffee. Xena picks up the journal and says, "You know, I don't like this Pablo guy. There's something about him that's so off."

"Yeah, it seems as though he has some ulterior motives or something," Gabrielle says as she takes the journal from Xena and opens it to the next entry. "I hope they catch onto him."

"Well, let's see what happens in their next entry," Xena says.

Gabrielle starts to read, "The next morning, Janice and I packed up the truck and was ready to get going. Pablo, though, wanted to sleep until noon. We waited until 10 am, and Janice finally had enough."

The scene now shifts to the boarding room and Janice trying to wake Pablo up. "Hey! Pablo! Get up! We need to get going!" Janice says as she shakes Pablo up. He gives a huge snore, then a snort.

Mel looks down at him and says, "This man is a heavy sleeper." Janice reaches down and starts to plug his nose, but Mel stops her and says, "That could make him stop breathing, Janice!"

Janice looks up at Mel and says, "It will get his attention, though!" Janice looks around and sees a pitcher of water. She grabs it and pours it on Pablo's face, waking him up.

"Que pasa? estoy despierta!" Pablo screams. He looks at the angry women and says, "Good Morning, Senoritas. I'm sorry, I'm a deep sleeper."

" So we noticed," Mel says unamused.

"Mel and I got the truck all packed! We leave in thirty minutes!" Janice says seriously.

"I'm going to need an hour," Pablo says, yawning and rubbing his eyes.

"The quicker we get on the road, the quicker we get to the relic!" Janice says. "We've been waiting for you to wake up all morning! We leave in thirty minutes!"

"I need to wake up first!" Pablo says, laying back down. Janice gets an angry look on her face, reaches down, grabs his shirt pulling him up, and says, "If you're not ready in thirty minutes, we will leave without you!"

Pablo looks at her seriously and says, "You don't know your way around here! You need me!"

"You need us to help get that relic, right!" Janice says, getting in his face.

He looks at her and says, "Si."

"Then get ready! Unless you want to face Ares all on your own." Janice says with a slight smirk. "Take it from us; you don't want to mess with the God of War. He will kill you in a heartbeat."

"Kill me?" Pablo says with a smug look on his face. "I can take him!"

"Oh really now, Pablo! You think you can take on Ares, God of War!" Janice says, chuckling a bit as Mel shakes her head in disbelief. "Let me tell you something, the last smug asshole that tried to take on Ares, got a knife in him two seconds after he pissed Ares off!"

Pablo gets a worried look on his face and asks, "Two seconds?"

"I wasn't stuttering, Amigo. Janice says coyly. "Get your shit together and let's go!"

Janice walks outside, and as Pablo stands up and puts his shirt on, he looks  at Mel and asks, "She is so different! Is she always so bold?"

"Yes! Yes, she is!" Mel says matter of factly.

"And this does not bother you at all?" Pablo asks.

"No! Not at all!" Mel says. "It wouldn't be Janice if she wasn't the way she is." Pablo gets a strange look on his face as Mel then says, "I suggest on this mission you get used to us."
