"Wow! What a pair! I will give credit to Dite and Cupid! They sure worked their magic on Mel & Janice! You know what this means, Xena! I won the bet!" Gabrielle says. She looks at Xena, smirks, and says to her, "I'll come up with a menu of what I want!"
"Hold on a minute! The chapter may be over, but not the night!" Xena says.
"You just don't want to cook!" Gabrielle says.
"Have you tasted my cooking! I'm lucky I can make mac n cheese without messing that up !" Xena says as they both laugh. "Ok, Let's read on!"
Gabrielle turns the page to the next chapter and starts to read, "We were on the road a week later." Gabrielle says. "There were twenty deaths in the accident, and when we finally hit the road after all the funerals, you could see the damage that was done. It was sad, but we needed to focus on getting that relic."
The scene now pans to Mel, Janice, and Pablo driving through the region. Mel looks at Pablo and asks, "When will we get to the next major town?"
"Not until dusk, Senorita Mel," Pablo says. "But there is a small village a few hours away from where we can fuel up and get more supplies. Even though some of the villages in the area are still primitive in ways, most have adapted to how things are today. I will warn you, ladies; there are dangerous animals and reptiles out here; please watch your surroundings."
"The snakes in this region are supposed to be the deadliest in the world!" Mel says.
"It's spiders that get me!" Janice says.
"One bite by any of these snakes is a death sentence, Senoritas," Pablo says.
"Not if you have an antidote or anti-venom of sorts," Mel proclaims. Pablo looks at her strangle as she continues to say, "I haven't figured it out yet, but I know there could be an anti-venom antidote to snake bites."
"I didn't realize you were into phonology?" Pablo says.
"Arachnology also!" Mel proclaims. "As a kid, spiders fascinated me! Granted, my major is Archeology and Anthropology, but I love all kinds of Science!"
"Fascinating!" Pablo says. "We should be coming to a small village in a few hours.
They drive on for a few more hours until they come to a small village. They stop the truck and check it out. People stare at the trio, and a group of small children run up to Mel and Janice and look at them in awe. Janice stares cautiously at the children and asks Mel, "Why are they staring at us?"
"I have no idea." Mel says. She looks down at a little girl in a blue dress and says, "Hola, pequena! Ese es un bonito vestido que llevas puesto!"
The little girl smiles and says, "Gracias princesa!"
Janice looks at Mel and asks, "Did she call you princess?"
"Yes, yes she did!" Mel says smirking a bit.
"¡Mira a las dos princesas!" says a little boy looking at Janice in awe.
"He just called me a princess!" Janice says, a little shocked. She looks down at the boy, smiles, and says, "Thanks, kid!" She looks around, then yells, "Does anyone around here speak English?"
"I understand English!" says a teenage boy.
Mel and Janice turn to him and Janice says, "Thanks kid! What's your name?"
"Emilio!" said the teen. The smaller kids smile in awe at Mel and Janice as Emilio then says, "They think you two are royalty!" Emilio looks at the younger kids and says, "vale, ve ahora, deja pasar a las mujeres!"
The children scatter, and Janice asks Emilio, "Why do they think we are royalty?"
"I think it has to do with an ancient story that has been to us forever!" Emilio says.
