Jules sat there, perched on her window seat. She was gazing out the window and down at the murky moat, the sun's reflection bouncing off of the brown ripples. She watched as Nathan Baker paced on the edge of the moat, watching the bumpy, scaled crocodiles. She then saw him and her best friend start to converse. And lastly, she saw Nathan fall down to serve as the crocodiles' dinner.

She couldn't believe her eyes. She had just watched a death take place. Jules had no idea what to do except for go down and hear exactly what happened from Liam himself.

Meanwhile, Liam stared at the water fading into the crimson color of Nathan's blood. He didn't want to believe it. Was it considered an accident? Was it considered murder? Did he just murder his best friend's boyfriend? He felt horrible. No. More than horrible. Miserable. Horrified. He just watched Nathan be torn to bits and pieces, his feet frozen to the bridge like how a child's tongue gets frozen to a metal pole in a cartoon.

Jules finally arrived.

She didn't know what exactly to say or do. She didn't plan this far ahead. So, she just hugged Liam. But to him, it was nothing compared to what May's hugs made him feel. Or maybe he had just went numb in emotions from what he had done.

"I saw it.", was all Jules said. A simple sentence that could be taken in many different contexts.

Liam didn't reply. He still had his eyes trained on the freshly crimson waters.

Days had passed since the incident. There had been an assembly in honor of Nathan, which May sobbed her way through as Liam tried to comfort her. His funeral took place, as well. May was too upset to attend. Although, Liam did.

Liam stared at the blonde, icy-eyed boy sitting in his picture frame.

"Nathan,", he began hesitantly. He didn't want to disrespect the dead. "I'm horribly sorry. Although, I know sorry won't cut it in this instance. I should've noticed my shoe was untied.", he paused, searching for the correct words, even though words wouldn't bring him back.

"Or if it would've registered in my dim mind quicker that you were falling to your death, then maybe I could've caught you. It all could've been prevented if I wasn't so dim. You were right.", he finally choked out. Suddenly, he felt why May didn't attend. He immediately left.

He paced through the breathtaking corridors of The Academy once he had returned, after his sick excuse for an apology. The late evening sunlight played a game of peekaboo through the arrowslit windows with the vintage tiled floors. The stone walls were as dull and gray as ever, cherry wood pillars running from the freshly shined floor to the precisely painted ceiling every few feet. As Liam paced, taking in his surroundings, he allowed himself to drown in his degrading thoughts.

Idiot.

Clutz.

You should be dead instead.

Eventually, May weaseled into his thoughts.

Liam walked to May's dorm and knocked on the custom carved door.

The words, "come in,", were barely decipherable through the sobs of emotional pain.

Liam cautiously walked in to see that May's dorm, which was typically slick and span, was a mess. May was sitting at her desk hovering over her journal, sloppily scribbling down words.

Liam thought that all of this greif could be a bit much for a relationship that lasted only about a month before Nathan tragically died. But then, he remembered how he would feel if May died. He would be at this high of a level of greif, if not, he would've broken the game with how high of a level of grief he would be at.

"What are you doing?", Liam gently asked her, he was starting off slowly in attempt to not trigger something.

"W-writing," May simply replied with a stutter.

Liam nodded to match her simplistic response.

"Jules said you were there.", May blurted out.

Liam nodded again to confirm her accusation.

May looked at him for a few long moments.

"You murdered him"

"I did not, May Nulie Volkov! I would never do such a thing and you snd I both know it!"

But did he know it?

May turned her back to him, making another few minutes of silence as she breathed heavily, her collarbone popping put every time she would inhale, and disappearing when she would exhale.

"I don't believe you."

"Ask Jules, she'll tell you the exact same thing."

May turned back around. They stared at each other's eyes for a few moments before it was interrupted by The Academy's bomb bell. A long, obnoxiously loud, terrifying bell. Indicating that there is a bomb inside the building. A Place of a Bomb; The Academy.

Liam started to run down the stairs to get off of the dormitory level of the school and to get to the courtyard and into the nearby woods. He had planned to he there with May and many other students trailing behind them. He heard a thud, but thought nothing of it.

Liam got outside and looked for May to make sure she got out safely, but he couldn't spot her. Then, he figured out was the thud was. It was May falling, and she most likely couldn't get back up because of all of the students walking over her to save their own lives.

Before he could run back to save her, the bomb went off and The Academy caved in under the explosion.
