May felt a small tug on the collar of her shirt, she couldn't quite rotate her head to see what it was. She jumped to the conclusion that it was a crocodile. She felt everything flash before her eyes just as everything had flashed before Liam's. This was it. This was her death. Her last moment of life.
May forced herself to open her eyes. She felt the bronze irises sting under the murky water. She could barely make out what was before her eyes through the blur of stinging and freezing water. She was being carried towards a door, the door on the map. While she tried to make out other things under the water, she saw a crocodile, it was incredibly realistic. Although, up close, you could see that I was truly robotic. It was letting a crimson-red liquid out of its mouth. Before she knew it, she was dumped behind the door, which synced with the tunnel. May was in a Place of Vulnerability only moments before. She could've easily been killed. But now, the suspicions were confirmed. Relief poured all over May. She already knew what was at the end of the tunnel, ferocious creatures in cages, and a chemistry lab in the middle. So she began to sprint for the entrance, where Jules was.
She swinged open the door to find Jules, anxiously waiting for the announcement of May's survival and what she discovered.
"MAY!", Jules cried out in relief, folding a warm, fluffy towel over May's shoulders. May hadn't realized how cold she was until that moment, so she gladly accepted the kind gesture of the simple towel.
May's smile seemed to electrify the entirety of the school.
"Let's find Liam before he pictches himself down there.", May said in a hurry. She began to run for the bridge.
And there Liam stood. Blankly staring at the crimson ripples.
"Liam!", May shouted as she ran to hug the boy in despair.
Liam didn't hesitate to hug the girl back. He wrapped his long arms around her fragile frame, as always, careful not to break it.
May told the two others everything that she had discovered while under the bone-chilling water. The robotic crocodiles, the "blood water guns", and the door.
Liam stared at the girl in disbelief. He knew what she was saying was true, but he was in disbelief of her courage and bravery. He admired it. He truly hoped that May would rub off on him in a way, it certainly wouldn't do him any bad. Liam thought of her as a machine. A well-oiled one, at that. Every part of her constructed another.
Every part of her constructed him.
