Trigger Warnings: None
Bakugo slows, walking to a nearby tree. How he got into the woods by U.A., he's not sure. But, he is sure that his 5:30 AM jog was worth it if he found this beautiful place. Sliding down the tree trunk, the ash blonde looks around and takes in the environment.
Weeping Willows, pitch pines, evergreens, and shadbush trees fills the area, their leaves and branches mixing together, providing shelter and shade. Because it's so early, the sky is still dark and the city is still silent. Crickets roam the threes and squirrels can be heard quickly scuttling across the ground and branches. The soft moan of the leaves being pushes by he slight breeze mixed with the sound of a rushing creek and the chorus of crickets create a soft and calming atmosphere. One or two lightning bugs(I used lightning bugs because I couldn't remember they were also called fireflies...) flit across Bakugo's vision. It makes these woods almost seem like something from a movie.
"I can't believe the city is so close to here. It's so stunning." The teen breaths out. The cool and calm air brushing past his relaxed, sweaty features. Soon, he hears a loud creaking and some soft humming. Curious, he stands up and walks towards the humming, it getting louder each step, until he's standing in a small clearing right next to the creek. He looks at the tall trees around him, shocked when he sees a human resting on a branch to his right.
They look calm, their back resting against the thick base of the tree. Their left leg rests flat and parallel to the thick and oddly wide branch while their right is bent, foot rest near their left knee. They have their left arm dangling by their side, falling off the branch, and their right elbow rests on the right knee, their forearm dangling over the person's body. They have their head tilted to the left yet leaning back against the tree as they watch the creek and hum. Bakugo struggles to identify who the person is, if he even knows them, but he has no clue.
That is, until a squirrel jumps onto the same branch as the person. They turn their head more towards Bakugo and looks down at the squirrel, giving off a light chuckle. Bakugo almost immediately recognizes those large shining green eyes and the four dominant freckles that cover the soft cheeks. He finally recognizes the green mop of hair and the All Might sleep shirt.
"Deku?" He asks, his voice barely above normal talking.
Deku stops singing and looks down to Bakugo, "Hi Kacchan. What are you doing out here?"
"I found you while going on my jog, but I feel like I should be asking you the same thing?"
Deku smiles, "I found this place the second week of second year. I was really stressed and ended up walking around. I found these woods and then a week later found this small clearing right in front of the creek."
"That doesn't answer my question nerd."
"I'm here because I couldn't sleep. These woods remind me of a fantasy world. Something that shouldn't be real." He steadily stands up and drops down onto the next branch, only getting slightly closer to the other on the ground, "I've done that for a while. It's calming here. Let's me slip away from reality, even if it's just for a night." By now, the greenette is only a few feet from the ground, he continues hopping down.
"This is my favorite tree." He smiles as soon as his feet hit the ground, "It's a large pine. Young too. The leaves always have a pretty red tint to them and it's grown so big just a few branches could hold our entire class." He explains. The teen takes a few steps until he's face-to-face with Bakugo, "What time is it?"
"About 6 in the morning."
"Great." He smiles. Anyone can tell it's a smile of pure joy. The smile reaches his eyes and his eyelids slip closed. To Bakugo, in this moment, he looks like an angel. His mop of green hair is messier than usual and the rising sun shining through the leaves hit his cheeks and body almost perfectly. His smile is so beautiful.
