001; promiscuous

katherine's pov

i feel my heart palpitate as the third kick is plunged into my stomach; striking my abdomen to leave yet another bruise.

the world around me started to collapse, my eyes fog up. blurring my vision as i become unconscious from the unbearable pain i had brought upon myself...

echoing sounds of laughs surrounded me as they found amusement in my suffering—

"miss grey are you paying attention?" the lady in front of me asked snapping me out of my day dream.

"of course" i replied somewhat confidently, she didn't seem to believe me though.

"i see you've moved a lot?" i heard flicking sounds of paper behind her computer screen.

"yep" i replied.

i noticed the familiar brown envelope with the remains of a ripped 'good job' sticker placed on the front. shit.

my eyes widened as i realized she was reading my file, there was nothing in the universe that i wanted more than to set the paper alight, watching it burn into ashes would be free therapy for me.

all the things that haunted me at night were written between those pages; they played inside my head on a loop like a carousel straight out of american horror story.

"hello? yes- mhm yep it happened again" i heard the phone line beep as she hung up.

now awkwardly sitting behind her desk in silence waiting for whoever she had called to come through.

"the printer is always out of ink" the woman explained, i awkwardly smile as i began to sweat in the confined windowless room.

after receiving my schedule i walked the halls trying to find my class. people bumping into me every five seconds truly made my day even worse, almost arriving to the lesson my eyes locked with another girl.

she stared me down as we got closer. her friends accompanied the girl; they didn't look friendly. i tilt my chin to the ground awkwardly attempting to avoid them, not wanting to start a brawl on my first day here.

my torso hits into another forcing me to jolt backward only to fall into another person standing behind me. i quickly peer forward at who i barged into to see none other than the girl who gave me the death stare.

"hey streetwalker" she smirked.

"um sorry do i know you?" i asked looking off to the side searching for a quick exit in case things got ugly.

"you should." the girl tucked her hair behind her ear, "i'm carter's sister" she adds expecting me to understand.

i stood silently not recognizing the name. she sighed in annoyance rolling her eyes to the back of her head.

"carter lockett" she overexaggerated her words making me feel dumb. my head snaps to hers quickly registering the situation, i remember who she is.

"shit" i mumble beneath my breath.

i saw her friend's jaw drop and point to me almost excitedly?
