katherine's pov
we sat peacefully in the back of billie's dodge challenger eating taco bell that she'd bought for us, i was somewhat forced to try a bean burrito since she spoke so highly about them. it was surprisingly really nice, enjoying being in each other's company so much that i wouldn't change a single thing.
billie had parked her car in a secluded place surrounded by trees, it looked like a forest pathway for dog walkers and a river was a few feet away. the air was foggy and consumed with mist as it got darker it became spookier but i absolutely adored the aesthetic of it all.
"so? what do you think?" billie asked with a grin laced on her lips, knowing she'd jokingly act all judgemental if i said i hated the food she so desperately wanted me to try i thought i'd play along.
"it's okay... i guess" i replied. hiding my smirk not as well as i thought i did since billie didn't fall for it. her eyes rolled to the back of her head letting out a scoff before smiling at me again.
"i would've believed you if you weren't terrible at lying" billie states with her mouth full of food, i shake my head lightly. i realize that i've never been able to successfully lie to billie, she always saw right through me as if i were a window.
without having to say a word she knew if i were happy or not, i was so incredibly glad that she saw me for who i was. instead of judging me like everyone else at school did, i can only take so much of the dirty looks and whispers in the hallways.
"i swear i can lie to everyone in the world but you" i commented. while taking a sip of my drink i notice how quiet billie turned all of a sudden, it's as if the roles had reversed and it worried me a little.
"bil?" i called out her name quietly trying not to startle her, i knew what getting caught up in your thoughts looked like. she switched her focus to me lacing a small soft smile on her lips completely unaware of what i said.
"are you okay?" i asked sweetly moving the palm of my hand to her upper thigh giving it a gentle squeeze, billie nodded while anxiously licking her lips then placed her hand on top of mine slowly rubbing her thumb across my skin.
with a beautiful smile she gazes down at our hands for a moment before speaking, "my uh- my brother made me realize something this morning" billie somewhat explained glancing up at me a couple of times.
"oh?" i questioned wanting to know more, "he asked if i knew you" she elaborated. my eyebrows pushed together in confusion, billie didn't know every single little detail about me but we hadn't known each other that long so i didn't expect her to.
"i feel like i do but i'm not sure" she mumbled out. "well, what do you want to know?" i inquired. there was only one way to fix this so i came up with a solution, billie grinned, happy that i'd agreed to open up to her.
"i don't know? little things i guess? i wanna know everything about you" she says excitedly scooting closer to me, resting her chin in her hand patiently waiting for me to tell her literally anything about myself.
but nothing at all came to mind.
"ummm" i dragged out trying to think of something, i knew billie liked music so i thought i'd start there and list some of my favourite artists.
