Ash walked out of the gym with Leaf and Yellow who gave him a hug and got ready to get going for the Contest in Celadon City. After getting out of the hotel, Leaf and Yellow waved their byes to Ash and left towards Celadon City.

'Whew, the attractive female's gone' Pikachu said gratefully.

Ash shook his head and walked to the Cafe to grab something to drink before setting off the Vermillion City.

He already knew one of his Pokemon who was going to battle. Gible was a ground type and perfect for the job of fighting electric types. Charmander and Pikachu were also options but they were neutral against electric types and it was going to be a 50-50. Since Ash wasn't too keen about a game of chance, he decided to try to catch some Pokemon on his way to the Gym.

After he ordered a drink, he sat down and looked around, taking in his surroundings.

'Hey look! It's that Gym Leader we fought' Pikachu pointed out to Ash who looked to where Pikachu was pointing.

You're right. I wonder what's she's doing here. Aren't Gym Leaders supposed to be at a Gym battling all day? Ash asked.

'Don't you remember when that weird girl said that this was going to be the girl's last Gym Battle? And that she's going on a journey?' Pikachu asked.

"Not really" Ash replied and leaned back into his seat. Without Leaf and Yellow, his journey would be a lot less fun. While Ash wasn't the kind of guy who did things because they were fun, he did certainly appreciate a tad bit of entertainment now and then.

"You're the guy who beat me earlier today" came an annoyed voice.

"I know that you know my name" Ash replied.

"Ash Ketchup or something" Misty retorted.

"You've grown a temper" Ash noted taking another sip.

"I crushed your soda can when we first met" Misty replied in a 'duh' tone "And getting kicked out of your home isn't something that makes people smile."

"I mean, there is no need for 4 Gym Leaders..." Ash said sheepishly.

Misty shot him a glare and said,"If you thought I was easy to beat, wait until you see my sisters battle. They think it's a contest or something. I don't understand why they didn't become coordinators and leave the actual battling stuff to me, someone who actually likes to battle."

"But they also need someone actually good at battling. Until you get better, you're sisters are going to be the ones in charge" Ash replied. "And speaking of contests, Leaf and Yellow are gone now for one in Celadon City. They always have good ideas for an upcoming Gym Battle. It was Yellow's idea to find a Grass or Electric Type Pokemon" He added.

"She's lot smarter than you. You would've used a Ground or Rock Type for all I know" Misty replied and sat down.

'You guys argue like a married couple. Chill out, man' Pikachu told Ash.

Ash sighed and shook his head.

"Well, I'm headed to Vermillion City. What about you?" Misty asked.

"Same. I'm headed to Vermillion as well. Wait, why don't you come with us. You're a Gym Leader, you can tell me about the Vermillion City Gym" Ash said with slight bit of excitement in his voice.

"Yeah, sure. It's not like I have anything better to do" Misty said and stood up.

"Are you packed up?" Ash asked.

Misty nodded.

"Then let's get going" Ash said and got up, ready to get his 3rd badge.

After making their way out of Cerulean, Ash and Misty found a house with a Nidoran wrecking almost everything inside of it.

Ash opened the door which was surprisingly unlocked and went inside. Once he was in, the Nidoran jumped on a pedestal which was connected to a strange looking machine. The Nidoran pointed to a button which Ash pressed.

A huge bright light filled the room. When it died down, a Nidoran and a man with a lab coat were standing there.

"Oh my goodness! Thank you so much young man! I thought I was going to be stuck in that form forever. I'm Bill, a scientist or researcher, whichever one you like" the man said blabbering.

"Um, Ash, don't you think it's time to go?" Misty asked.

"Yeah, definetly" Ash answered, just as creeped out.

"Oh no, wait! I need to repay you for all the help you gave me. I have 2 tickets for the S.S Anne, it goes to Vermillion City and is a huge luxury cruise ship. You'll be at Vermillion in a day. Take them, I am much to attached to my work to have time for things like this" Bill said and handed Ash, two tickets.

After saying their goodbyes, Ash and Misty went outside quickly.

"That guy needs to socialize, that was weird from start to finish" Misty said shaking her head.

"That doesn't matter, these do" Ash said holding up the tickets. These are the fastest ways to make it to Vermillion. We lucked out so hard. What are we waiting for? We don't wanna miss the ship" Ash said and ran down the road to the docks.

"This is a mistake, Misty said and followed him, cursing under her breath.
