3rd Person POV
Ash walked out of the Celadon City Gym with a smirk. The Gym had been very easy but required a little bit of brain power near the end. He clipped the Rainbow Badge to the inside of his jacket, he now had 4.
"We're halfway there" he said.
'Hell yeah! The Indigo League better watch out!' Pikachu cheered.
Ash and Misty made it back to the Pokemon Center. Ash then sat down to strategize about the next Gym that he would face. He was going to Saffron City, home of the Saffron City Gym and its Psychic specialist.
He once again would be taking along Scyther, a Bug-Type, as it was super effective against Psychic Types. What Ash had understood during his 4 Gym Battles was that no matter how much you prepare against a type disadvantage, the right strategy would find a way to exploit whatever training you've done.
Ash knew that he would probably need more than just one Pokemon for the battle, so he just decided to take Gible, who knew Bite, and Poliwag. He wanted to take the Water Type because he wanted the Pokemon to gain more experience as it had not fought in a battle for a while.
After going through all of it with his Pokemon and getting their affirmation, Ash went to bed, ready to get moving the next day.
When Ash woke up the following day, he got ready and went downstairs to the lobby of the Pokemon Center. Misty was already somehow awake, much to Ash's surprise.
"Hey Misty, you ready to get going?" Ash asked.
"Well, there's a perfume store nearby..." she said.
About 45 minutes later, Ash and Misty came out of the store and actually started making their way to Saffron City.
On the route there, Ash felt something weird. It was a sense of caution, and he decided to stop and look around. Misty, who was walking in front of him, didn't see him stop and kept walking.
Suddenly, the ground underneath her gave way and she fell into a pit about 5 feet deep.
"WHO THE FUCK!?" Misty yelled.
Ash ran over to the pit, now with his sense gone.
"You okay?" Ash asked.
"Yeah, I think so" Misty replied.
Ash gave Misty his hand, to which the orange haired girl shyly took. Ash pulled her out of the hole and saw several small blue Pokemon running over.
"They're Squirtles! Wearing...sunglasses?" Misty said confused.
'Look! Two trainers!' One of the Squirtles said pointing to Ash and Misty.
"Hey! Did you do this?!" Misty asked.
One of the 5 Squirtles stepped forward, and this one had different glasses, showing that it was the leader of the pack.
'Yeah' it said.
"Okay...let's get going" Ash said "I think they're some weird cult."
"Yeah, sure" Misty agreed and the two of them walked by the Squirtles and left.
The leader of the Squirtles wasn't too impressed. Nobody just walked away from him like that. Also, they were a gang, not a cult.
'We've got our next target, boys' the Squirtle said.

Ash and Misty decided to stop near a pond so they could rest for a while. Ash took this as an opportunity to look around.
Unaware to Ash and Misty, the Squirtle Squad had followed them. With the element of surprise, they snuck into a bush and got ready. They had several buckets of water, and once they dumped the water, they would freeze it with Ice Type moves.
Ash, however, felt the sense of danger that he had felt earlier. He closed his eyes and sensed something in a bush behind him. Pikachu, understood what his trainer wanted, and launched a Thundershock.
There was a shout of Squirtles yelping in pain. All 5 of them came out, and 4 of them fell to the ground. The leader however, refused to go down.
"You've got heart" Ash commented.
'I know. Now fight' Squirtle said.
"Alright, come on Pikachu" Ash said.
'A Water-Type, you sure you wanna fight this?' Pikachu asked.
'The Type doesn't matter' Squirtle replied.
"He's not wrong Pikachu" Ash said. "The Type doesn't necessarily decide the battle."
'What the fuck?!' Squirtle said stepping back in shock. 'D-Did, he j-just, wha-?'
"Yeah, I can do that. Talking to and understanding Pokemon. It's some kind of weird skill I have" Ash said with a shrug.
Squirtle shrugged off the news and got ready to fight. Behind him, his comrades also started to get up.
Squirtle looked back and saw the condition of them. Thinking for the better of the group, he told them to retreat.
'We will settle the score next time, don't you worry' Squirtle said and ran off with the others.
'What the hell?' Pikachu said with comical tears. 'I wanted to actually fight for once.'
"You heard him. They'll be back, don't worry" Ash said with a smirk. With that, Ash and Pikachu walked back to continue on their way to Saffron City and get their 5th badge, the Marsh Badge.
